Ok guys & girls,
I've provisionally booked our places at Country Trax for the weekend from 24 to 26 July 2009 at Jan's farm in Amersfoort, Mpumulanga. I'm awaiting the paper work and final pricing, which I will communicate to you shortly.
After Sani, I think I should go twice!

Re: GS Training - Country Trax 24 - 26 July - UPDATE
Ok boys & girls, we're in business. I got word from the "farm" people. They are looking forward to our visit.
According to Elizna, she checked with Jan and they are happy to make it R3000 pp for 10+ attendees, which translates into a R350 savings off the the recommended retail price Their only requirement is obviously that we handle this as a block booking. Full payment will guarantee our places, but she can accommodate a 50% deposit with the balance payable 14 days before the event. She also mentioned a more "comfortable" option to sleep over the Thursday evening for R400 extra (dinner, bed & breakfast).
She added that this is not for beginners, so if you can do road and good gravel, you're good to go! Upon payment she will send through more details, such as what to bring with, etc.
I'm awaiting details from Elizna on how to handle the block booking with individual payments and will publish that as soon as possible. I know R3000 is a lot of cash, but you have two paychecks to work with ...and to put things into perspective: I took a silly fall last year that cost me a little less than that R3000 in excess, and my insurance more than 11 times that R3000 to fix!! So make that piggy bank sweat!

Re: GS Training - Country Trax 24 - 26 July - UPDATE
Marnus I suppose the July date is still on. Could you please find out about the cost and availablility of the CRF's (or similar) for renting from Jan. I am considering that option for our esteemed secretary.

Re: GS Training - Country Trax 24 - 26 July - UPDATE
Aww Dave, pity that Dorothy won't be joining, but you mentioned that she ran low on leave or something? Not that it's a great excuse to miss an event of note!
But in any case, herewith the feedback for MudPooBah/Koekels:
I also just realized that it is just over 2 months away (net 66 slapies), so herewith the arrangements:
As I've mentioned, we pay the discounted rates if we manage to get a group of 10+ together, and I would like for as many of our club members to attend as possible, before asking Central Club's help to make up the figures. Or we get to pay a "corkage fee" when we get there!
If you have questions about anything, at any time, please contact me anywhere, anyhow on:
marnusp AT gmail DOT com
oh eight three six three nine oh two three four
But in any case, herewith the feedback for MudPooBah/Koekels:
So I don't know if it's cheaper to rather trailer the WR + 1150A there?
I also just realized that it is just over 2 months away (net 66 slapies), so herewith the arrangements:
- Please decide if you will be going as a rider/pillion/spectator (and if you are a family, for all of you).
- Determine what you have to pay, keeping in mind that you can sleep over the Thursday evening already for +R400.
- Take at least 50% of that and pay Dani (she will send you the bank details on request - just PM/e-mail her) so we can secure our places with CountryTrax. I would appreciate it if you can have your the deposit paid over to Dani by latest 1 June 2009. You can of course pay the full amount if you want to.
- When you are paying the deposit/full amount, please send Dani confirmation of payment and what you are paying for.
- Dani will pay CountryTrax and Elizna will send her the Course booking forms for us to complete. We will also get our what-to-bring lists.
- The balance of the course fees is payable at least 14 days before the event, so if we can have that done by the first week in July, we're in business.
- Then all that is left is to get there and get clever!
As I've mentioned, we pay the discounted rates if we manage to get a group of 10+ together, and I would like for as many of our club members to attend as possible, before asking Central Club's help to make up the figures. Or we get to pay a "corkage fee" when we get there!

I have started at a new company in April, and being responsible for the Group Finance Department, and our year-end being 30 June, there is just no way for me to take any leave.
Very sad............. maybe later in the year for me.

Re: GS Training - Country Trax 24 - 26 July - UPDATE
Thanks Marnus
As we have so many members I will register it as a formal club event and hook the club trailer behind my bakkie.
Should we have any bike problems we can just put the bike on the trailer. Koekel's bike will be on the back of the bakkie
I will chat with the rides commitee tonight and see if it will be allowed

Would totally recommend the sleepover. We stayed over with family in Ermelo, had to get up very early still to do the 60k-odd, mostly gravel, got caught in the mist and arrived there tired and flustered. So the first day we finished bushed!
Whereas the guys staying on the farm already had a lekker time, getting to know Jan and his stories, bikes already prepared (removing mirrors and screens, adjusting handle bars, some even buying and fitting knobblies from Jan)
BTW, Jan also sell some BMW kit there, so take your money (think you can pay EFT afterwards if you ask) and know your prices, you might pick up a bargain as he sometimes has some old stock at old prices. And of course, being the club and knowing each other already, you will probably spend quite some time in his boere jacuzzi in the evenings...
Man, it's a lekker place!
BTW, I'd suggest take some duct tape and stick over body panels that might get scratches with any sidestand incident. And fit those crash bars if you've been meaning to. Remove spots if you can and don't hesitate with the knobblies (or Heidenau's), even if you take them off again and save for GS Challenge... oh wait, that's gone...

Marnus
Are there still 2 spots available for this weekend? My brother and I would love to join... Sorry but I only caught this thread now after Dani's RRR this week.
Please let me know if 2 more can be accommodated - we have also been threatening for years to go and do this...
