But I'm in.

A few photies of our exercises...
Jan op sy stukke...
A mothership gets thrown around unceremoniously, all to demo the right stuff...
Step step...
Walkies...
Scooter...
This was one of the difficult ones for me - side saddle on the right hand side. Left is fine, but alles feel wrong on the right!
Slow race - I just could not beat the X-Challenge!
We shoved the lawyer and the advocate into the wagons...

Well if that is a bumble bee I must have a mosquito.......... will join soon just neer new\other rims and tyres........and must convince myself. I dont like the idea of falling and having my baby scrached. And breaking my tender body..eish. And then I have just about never been on dirt never mind at what level or speed. I think it will be nice to do Just need more experience

Henk, so stop procrastinating - you have a great bike to start off on the dirt!
Go to the BMW Rider Academy at Zwartkops and enroll of the Introductory off-road course @ R595! Good value for money if you ask my opinion. You can also read about my experience there on the Think Bike forum.
In the mean time you are welcome to attend the club meeting and join us on the GS outride that Sunday morning... And you don't need knobbly tires if that is what you mean with new tires - the standard ones work just perfect for the type of gravel riding we do.
En Delmas het baie grondpaaie waar jy kan oefen PM / email / bel my as jy 'n riding buddy soek!

Re: GS Training - Country Trax 24 - 26 July - UPDATE
The purpose of both Zwartkops and Country Trax is not to damage bikes or riders - most spills happen with over eager participants, in the same way that we sometimes over extend ourselves and run out of talent on our normal off-road rides.
The difference is that your talent will be complimented with knowledge and experience, leading to way less chance of your baby getting scratched. And more importantly, possibly preventing injury or the loss of life.
You will see, everyone who does the course walks away from Country Trax saying the course should be thrown into the deal when buying a DS bike.

My China trip dates are 21 - 27 June, so any dates other than that and ABBG would be good for me and Dorothy.

After yesterdays trip to loskop... and chatting to a few of the experts. This course definitely sounds good to me. You can count me in.
15-17 May sounds good to me. The sooner I do the course the sooner I can start playing harder....

Re: GS Training - Country Trax 24 - 26 July - UPDATE
This thread seems to have gone quiet - May for me is out because of tickets for racing at Kyalami.
June is out because of business trip to China.
....so, in anticipation that July suites all I have pencilled in the July dates - what is the consensus?
Think we should make a booking asap or else it might be filled....

True - May is out.GSlady wrote:MadnohB wrote:... 15-17 May looks good to me
I'm sure this was an oversight?
Superbikes on Kyalami that weekend. Have the tickets in my pocket.
19 - 21 June ?
I think Marnus is already organising around the June date?

Re: GS Training - Country Trax 24 - 26 July - UPDATE
Okie Dokie... now that this one has been resuscitated (speaking of which... I'll have to go and rez the first aid thread!), we can get down to the details.
Seeing that May is out, and in June DaveS Dot can't make it, we'll have to seriously consider 24 - 26 July 2009. Not only will it be nice to be more & merrier, but they will likely give us a discount if we're in the region of 8 - 10 people!
(Bosbaba - don't worry - we train about once every month! More often if you give me a ring for a quick weekend morning ride!!)
Can we please have a show of hands to see who'll be attending? Please respond again if you may have done so previously - so we have all the votes for the July date

O man, I am so jealous! You guys are going to have a jol!!!
Jamie, why don't you rent a plastic from Jan (think they are Honda 230's, like Etienne's, so light and easy) for Stienie? Dunno how well she rides, but if you can handle an 800ST around Zwartkop she should cope/enjoy it - and the off-road skills transfer fantastically to the road, especially from a safety point of view, such as doing an emergency stop/skid/slide on the wet tar...

I will definately give you a ring if I'm in desperate need of a trip. Was going to suggest that we do it more often. Wouldn't mind helping the head dogs exploring the tracks when they are planning them.... don't mind getting lost a bit
Re: GS Training - Country Trax 24 - 26 July - UPDATE
Excellent - I'll start making arrangements to reserve us some space. As soon as we have to start making bookings & payments, we can get numbers on riders / pillions / non-riders... I'm looking forward!
