Lekker! Only needs a change of footpegs and screen, then it's perfect...

Re: Opinions on the F800GS
talk to me wise men (and the woman off course)………
I come from a back ground where smaller is better, where you can do 200 and plenty with a tiny well designed screen no problem. In the DS world it seems the believe is bigger is better………
First, what if anything is wrong with the stock screen? – at the moment I’m restricted to approximately 127.357km/h and I can not say I’m unhappy with the stock screen
Second, with what do I replace it with and why?
Thanks for the advice

Re: Opinions on the F800GS
My requirement for a bigger screen is in particular for the winter - I bike with one bike every day of the year. I also use enduro type helmets, so get blown around, causing a sore neck and if you look sideways (especially with the Airoh at speed) it feels like your head gets ripped off!
If daily commuting and long trips are not your plans, I think you are right - use the stock one until you feel you need something different. The biggest benefit with the stock one is more airflow off-road on warm days of course.
If you do start looking, there are a couple of options available, i.e. Kappa, that seems to work for people. I have seen too few to really recommend one, but unfortunately the ones that work also look too delivery bike...
All I can comment on is the BMW Touring one - looks fantastic, but very expensive and doesn't protect sufficiently. Not worth the money.

Re: Opinions on the F800GS
now this is what I call a pretty sight
the bikes parked in order of arrival........maar wag net bietjie, een van die dae ry die GS vir hulle almal weg........dis nou soos die spreekwoord sê "as die perde horings kry"
ps. the 800GS needs a different screen

Re: Opinions on the F800GS
Wow! That is really a pretty sight!
Parked in order of arrival? Ok, imagine, for a moment, the following scenario:
Our "breakfast run" to R21 Engen 1-stop this morning
I wonder what the order of arrival would be on a road like that?

Re: Opinions on the F800GS
Congratulations!!
Well done on the research for your pal!
I agree on both:
1. Very very pretty - especially that bike at the back
2. Yes it needs a different screen.
Tell me when you find the right one?
Many happy and safe kilometers - Going out on gravel is just another wonderful dimension - (MY reason for riding!)
Marnus.. very adventurous of you to go on that road in rainy weather! Well done!

nee o do#&er, ek staan wel met een voet in die "dark side" maar moenie my staan en skrikmaak voor ek nog begin het nie ......was in elk geval nie SO honger vanoggend nie
btw, that foot got a proper off-road boot today..........the bloody things are so expensive I only bought one for the time being........

Re: Opinions on the F800GS
Time to do Jan's course with the one boot then - one of the exercises is to ride with knee on saddle. Could be useful..
BTW, those Battlewings and Marnus' mud above... not a healthy combo!
