Recall on F800GS Empty Recall on F800GS

Post by GSNieP 18th August 2008, 08:40

Fellow F800GS owner and buddy of mine took his F800GS in for its 1000km service on Thursday at Fourways after not getting a service sport at Bavarian. The service manager asked him if his ignition had been replaced due to a recall from BMW and replied “NO!”

They also tightened something on the brakes and checked a few other stuff as well, all part of the recall Shocked

Does any one else know about this, because I sure did not and was also not been phoned to this regard!?!

Nope, don't know anything about this.
I was at Bavarian last week to show them the pressure crack in the headlight's glass.
That will be sorted under warranty, but nothing else was mentioned.

Recall on F800GS Empty Re: Recall on F800GS

Under normal circumstances, you would not even know about recalls unless you make an effort to research.

Recalls are corresponded directly to the dealer network and when your bike landed in the workshop (for whatever reason), it will be attended to automatically and without you having to ask for it.

Also, recalls normally only effect certain VIN numbers and not the entire model range.

It is therefore a good idea to keep your eye on an respectable international forum dedicated for your bike like for instance BMW F800 Rider association to mention one.

This way you learn about potential problems/fixes/recalls/software upgrades etc. even before the local dealers are aware of it.
