Women's Day Trip 8 - 10 August
The women's day trip promises to be very special this year. Join us on a tour through the history of the Anglo Boer War and imagine the tragic and tears but also the strenth and inner spirits of a nation to rise again.
The first day we will visit a small war museum and 3 consentration camp cemetries where memorials were erected. We will sleep-over at Vrede and follow the route past another 4 camps to Bloemfontein. Monday morning we will visit the Women's monument and the Dam of Tears and then return home.
This is a trip to celebrate life. We will show respect for the grief of women and mothers, more than a century ago, but will not allow to damp our spirit as bikers.
All will have a jol!
Please let me know your interest.
More detail to follow.

You have it all wrong, and a Gemmerkat by her tail. Watch out.
This is NOT a ladies ride but a normal club ride where everybody is welcome as with any other. The name is just to commemmorate the woman in our lives during the woman's day weekend.
We would like to invite as many riders as possible, INCLUDING men. You know well that the girls cannot go without us, but off course they will never admit it.
The only difference from other rides is that ladies will lead, sweep and ride the back-up.
If you are perhaps scared of a too slow ride, ask the others that did last year's ride to Christiana. There the leader was on a 650GS, now she's on a 800ST. Good luck
Seeing you there???

Re: Women's Day Trip 8 - 10 August
I can definitely recommend this trip! Last year's ride to Christiana was indeed a trip to remember and we had a lot of fun!
I will consult my chauffer on whether we will be able to partake in this years trip!

Ja.

Het my 30 jaar reunie daardie naweek aan - so we will in any case be on the road over the weekend - will probably travel down by bike. One of my School friends is also in Pretoria - rides a GT - so we will probably ride down together - any excuse to take to the road.

Re: Women's Day Trip 8 - 10 August
Plan is to leave 8 Aug Sat morning from Atterbury Shell towards Balmoral. There is also a small museum to visit. At Middelburg we will have something to break the fast and then on to Volksrust. Nobody tried to preserve anything about the Anglo Boer war here. Any piece of land could be the place where the camp or cemetery was. At Vrede we will call it a halt and spend the night at a guesthouse. Wilna is the person to call at 058 913 2998 / 0727197472 to book a room at R200 p/p.
On to Heilbron on Sunday having breakfast at Kroonstad. Through Brandford, where the site belongs to a farmer who will maybe have a lot to tell us.
In Bloenfontein Elize / Madelein is the person to call at 051 522 4016 to book a room for R320 at the Country Inn Guest Inn.
On Sunday we will visit the National Woman's Monument and also the Dam of Tears before heading home via Parys for the usual coffee and carrot cake / ice cream / chocolate cake / waffel and cream, or whatever your desire is.
So far 7 bikes and 10 people.

Re: Women's Day Trip 8 - 10 August
Prices do not include breakfast as we will have a brekkie en route. Sunday b/fast at Kroonstad and Mon can be decided. Bloem have b/fast available for R45p/p.
In Vrede we will have dinner at Ou Hout. In Bloem we will have a braai, so you can pack your own meat and whatever goes with it or get it fresh at a mall stop.
Just realised a big mistake on the previous post.
We will visit the Nat Woman's monument on Monday morning and then leave for Parys. Sorry about that.

Re: Women's Day Trip 8 - 10 August
In die “thread” Follow the GS Fugitive – an inside story wat gehandel het oor Deon Meyer se boek Proteus het die relevansie van PG du Plessis se boek Fees Van Die Ongenooides vir hierdie opkomende Women’s Day Trip ter sprake gekom.
Ek het daar erens opgemerk dat “Those going on the Womens Ride can only benefit from reading it (dis nou Die Fees Van Die Ongenooides) before they go....if they have time.”
