Re: Clarens/Fouriesburg 5 December - 7 December 2008
LeRoy, if they don't want to do such an early breakfast another alternative is for them to make us a "breakfast hamper" to take with or eat before we go. Previous places I stayed did that and it works well.

Re: Clarens/Fouriesburg 5 December - 7 December 2008
Thought about that - will rather eat it along the way - so that we do some distance before stopping along the way - presume there will be place where we can do so - Renier has done this route before - will touch bases with him and get first hand feedback here. Regards.

Re: Clarens/Fouriesburg 5 December - 7 December 2008
Yes, I must say if we leave very early, I will not be in the mood for breakfast yet. Just a cup of coffee and a rusk to wake me up properly and then a breakfast on the way. Hope the route allows it.

Spoke to Renier last night - more than enough places to stop along the way and enjoy the breakfast. Will confirm this to all closer to the ride. Will also organise a braai or nice supper for all for the saturday evening. Regards.

A nice braai at the end of a long day will be just what the docter ordered. Just make sure they have enough wine and music.

Re: Clarens/Fouriesburg 5 December - 7 December 2008
They have a private wine cellar in the basement - doubt if we will be able to empty it. Saw the wines there - some excellent specimens that will go down very well - at a price of course. But just apply the BMW accronym - Bring Money With.

Will do, but I think we will have to try and organise some music as well. I will bring my iPod with if they have a sound system. Wine somehow goes down better with dancing.

You are forgetting the 3 part of the saying - wine, woman and song.

Ja, I know but I am still working on the women part. The wine and song part is easy.

Hold thumbs, I might just have an answer for the women part. Then we can have wine, women and song

Seriously, I tried that before.
Seems my copy of Mapsource does not have the data.
I know where the Country Inn should be - I've stayed there before!
I feed in all the data - Country, Province, Town, Category and it won't let me get past the third letter of the name.
Time I got new software.

Don't panic (moenie laat vrees jou pak nie) even satelites haven't been updated the last week.
Welcome to New SA!
The only way to navigate around SA these days is to use coordinates.
I've even missed the Hans Strydom turn off! Malibongwe?? the new GPS, two weeks old, didnt show it!

Co-ordinates work on my Zumo - but my laptop software doesn't seem to have an input for co-ordinates...?
I'm running 1.0 on the laptop - ancient as Windows '98?

Re: Clarens/Fouriesburg 5 December - 7 December 2008
From Pta to there you can do both tar or gravel, all the way. Pretty boring road on tar, did it this weekend again. If there is some GS's going then shoot through at Calendonspoort into Lesotho. Go from Buthe Buthe up to Mtlohong, just before Mtlohong turn right to Sani pass, up to there is about 160km of tar. Then a very lekker gravel mountain pass to Sani Top, have a beer in the Highest pub in Africa and go back, if you get to the border post at 08h00 you can easily be back out same way you came in before 16h00.
Even better would be to go down Sani pass, sleep in Himeville or underburg and the next day take the long way round home.... Really a nice trip. Did it now recently. Was a lot of snow and really beautiful!!

I know I've been sleeping but due to work commitments, I could only finalize plans for this coming December very recently. I would really like to join the club on this trip to Fouriesburg. Is it too late or can I still join? How about accomodation?

Kobus, try making a booking at Fouriesburg Country Inn to see if there is still space. Space on the tour depends on the accommodation booking.

Re: Clarens/Fouriesburg 5 December - 7 December 2008
As mentioned in a previous posting the only limiting facto here is the availbility of accommodation at Fouriesburg Country In - please contact them direct and book your accommodation - the details of the venue is contained on Page 1 of this thread - posted by Dave (Rejuvenated/Gone Away) at the start of this thread.
Other than that you can find it on the trip planning document on the Clubs Webpage - posted by Dani a while ago.

Re: Clarens/Fouriesburg 5 December - 7 December 2008
Great news to myself........................still accommodation available for the weekend. I will certainly join in the weekends fun. My only problem is that Alun and myself are leaving for a nice trip to the Cape and back in December and my bike is due for a service in 4500km. Wonder what the BMW service manual says about exceeding the service interval. I know, with my car it should not exceed 1000km past the required service interval. Can anyone give me some info?

Re: Clarens/Fouriesburg 5 December - 7 December 2008
within 1000km either way should not be a problem - at least this was the answer given to me by Bavarian.
However if your warranty is still applicable, I imagine they would technically be in their rights to refuse a warranty claim if something does go wrong within that mileage exceeding the indicated service time.

Kobus - have added your name to the list on page 2 of this thread. If everybody goes we are now 17 people and 13 bikes. Have the same issue iro my next service - the 20 000km service is also very close. But Jamie's feedback above is correct, you can vary a 1000km above or below.
