4 Corners December 2008
I am going on the 4 Corners tour this December. The planning is completed and at this stage I can not wait to get on the bike with the wife and do it. Me and the wife already did quite a few long distance trips with trips of around 1450Km per day. So we are quite prepared for this trip.
I read a lot about the trip and I agree that you actually should not book overnight places in advance. I actually had to book and pay in advance since the December holiday does not allow for any mistakes. Basically all accomodation are fully booked.
We also opted for more luxury and decided to only stay in B&B's as far as possible.
Me my wife and a friend both on 2009 spec BMW K1200LT's will be leaving Cape Town on the 13th December.
First stop will be Cape Aughullas and then further to Barrydale for lunch at the Country Pumpkin. First night sleep over would be in Willowmore. From there on with the single lane concrete road to Steytlerville through to our second night in Gonubi. Next two nights we will stay in Margate. From there onwards to St Lucia. Next morning to Kosi Bay and sleep over in Piet Retief. From Piet Retief we continue to Sabie. The next night will be in Pontdrift. From Pontdrift we will travel south to Secunda for a few days with my family. From there to Harties for Xmas with the son and daughter.
The 30th December we will again leave for Upington. The next day to Augrabies which is a very short trip, but I would like to stay over and enjoy the falls. Next morning to Alexander bay where we will sleep over. From there we will travel south to Citrusdal for our last night. The next morning we again will have a short trip back to Gordons Bay.
The planning was really the first part of the trip and with this done we are all looking forward to the actual trip.
I will post a full trip report when we are back, with all the photo's just to make everybody's mouth water.

Re: 4 Corners December 2008
Nice 21 day trip (if I counted it correctly). We will be awaiting your report and pictures.
Kobus and myself doing a trip to Cape Town during peak vacation period. We also had to make bookings near the coast to ensure we were not sleeping in the street.
Safe riding.

Re: 4 Corners December 2008

Re: 4 Corners December 2008
Ek is nou in Secunda.
