LeRoy
I am afraid that I will have to cancel my plans for the Fouriesburg trip. I had a look at the odometer and it will be in excess of 11000km's by the time Alun and myself are back from our Cape trip. Very dissappointed obout it as I was really looking forward to it but unfortunately, there is nothing I can do

Real bummer Kobus. At my guess so far we looking at about 4500 km for the trip. Way over the 1000 km service limit.

Wonder if I should'nt see if the guys in Cape Town can service my bike on the 23rd of December. Then the odometer reading would'nt be a problem

Re: Clarens/Fouriesburg 5 December - 7 December 2008
I sure it can be done, even on 24th and get a loan bike for the day to ride around CT that we planned for. That way you can still do this trip too. Just would need to organise the service ahead of time to ensue a loan bike is available. Besides we be unpacking the bikes for the day anyway so no need to cart stuff around.

Ye! I know. Discovered that when I was down there in July. I was shocked to see shopping malls was closed by 14:00 on Saturdays. Not even open on Sundays. Then working hours are like 10:00 to 15:00 with 2 hour lunch where it is impossible to get hold of them.

I was actually surprised with the fact that they could service my bike so close to Christmas. Will have to rent a bike for the day if necessary. There are so many things to explore around Cape Town

LeRoy I know this has nothing to do with this thread but I want to know what one needs to do to post a plotted GPS route on the website like you did with the Fouriesburg route

Re: Clarens/Fouriesburg 5 December - 7 December 2008
1300 km's - had to make a small change to day 1 as a part of the route (As planned) between Frankfort and Petrus Steyn is a dirt road although it is indicated on the GPS as a R road - normally tar. At this point in time we are 23 people and 16 bikes.
Am going to contact Fouriesburg CI today and confirm who have confirmed their accommodation - that will give us a more accurate indication.

Re: Clarens/Fouriesburg 5 December - 7 December 2008
Contacted FCI today - seems that all have confirmed their accommodation - above and beyond the names on page 2 of this thread we are roughly 26 people going - with roughly 18 bikes. Will finally see on the 5th.
On our way back we will be stopping at a restaurant in Vrede (Ouhout) where we will be having a late brunch - roughly halfway back
With regards to the outbound trip - if anybody knows of a nice place in Frankfort where we can top up (Food & Coffee) on the outbound trip please feel free to let me know.
Regards and make sure your bikes brakes and brake pads are in excellent working order.

Re: Clarens/Fouriesburg 5 December - 7 December 2008
I will send it to you and have it posted - have done alternative routes for Saturday - depending on wherre we want to go in and out. The proprietar at the FCI has forms for us that we can complete the previous evening for the border post at Lesotho - will at least save time in that regard.
Have also organised for breakfast packages - so we can leave very early Saturday Morning to ensure that we make it in and back before the border closes.
