I just saw the thread about crossing into Mozambique. Is the LEARNER LICENSE allowed into Lesotho? If not I am screwed big time. Sad

Happy, it was not a problem to get through the border. It was after a great trip of 10 days in Moz and only on our way back that we were stopped in a road block - close to Maputo. At first they wanted to confiscate my bike, but after a good debate - thanks for friends Henry (lawyer), Rupert (big boy) and Leon (back-up) - and I think R250 - I could leave the police station as driver of the back-up vehicle. They allowed Leon (at that time he didnt even have a learners - but they didn't ask) rode my bike for the next 30 or so kilometers. Then we switched back.

Kobus, do you want it for use on a GPS? Otherwise I can send you a picture of the route if it will help?

Enjoy in the mean time Dave's pics! Oh I like his sense of humour Laughing

PS: And I miss the Toy Run tomorrow! One lane or not, it will be an experience of note.

Over the weekend I received two more enquiries to do this trip. There is is no limitation with regards to the number of members going. The only limitation is the availability of accommodation at Fourriesburg Country Inn or at Fouriesburg. The trip planning doc is on the website www.bmwclubs.co.za - all detail contained therein. So for those still undecided - the choice is yours.

For those who have already decided and booked and confirmed your accommodation, please send me a personal message (MP) on the forum containing your cellphone number and email adress. See you on Friday morning at 9 at the normal starting point.

I got my new screen, but still awaiting for the longer torque bolt (10 mm longer) to arrive at Bavarian so I can safely attach the screen. I discovered that the previous screen was only held by about 2 to 3 threads on each bolt, which is not very good at all. Should be 3 threads beyond the nut (well from an aviation view point).

9 for 9:30 as per the trip planning document - want to give the traffic chance to subside somewhat. We are picking up Johan and Trudy at Bapsfontein and Henk at Delmas as we go through.

We will be quite a large group as 35 people have booked accommodation at FCI. 6 guests, from Lydenburg, will be joining us at Fouriesburg, representing 4 bikes, rough guestimate would then be that we will be roughly 20 to 25 bikes at the starting point.

Lastly - you must remember your passports. The following is sometimes requested at a border post when crossing. 1) Registration Papers, 2) A letter from your insurance underwriter, 3) Exit Letter from your financier (Bank). (Organised mine with Petra at Bavaria)

Kobus, maybe you should head to Bapsfontein intersection to wait with Johan and Trudy. at least that is about half way from Springs to Pretoria.

If bike was paid by cash, is only a passport required?

Yes, but take your registration papers, letter from your insurance as well. They might ask for it or they might not - if you dont have it and it is required - you wont be allowed to do the ride to Katse.
