Re: Tell us who you are?
I do hope you both - and for that matter everyone on the roads in this festive season - will enjoy the journey and get home smiling!
Re: Tell us who you are?
Hi there
I am Laughing Girl. I just got my F 650 GS on Friday, and was riding a scooter before that. I need lots of practise, but am going to join the club so that I can come along on the rides and get more experience.
I look forward to meeting you all at the first meeting in january.

Re: Tell us who you are?
Hi Laughing Girl and welcome here.
You don’t know me (I think) but I know more about you than you can imagine
…………I was there in the shop when you took delivery of your bike on Friday.
Of course I did not know then who you were but the sums add up.......small world isn't
Anyway, enjoy your ride and be safe

Hi there
Thanks for the welcome. So - did you see me stalling, like, a million times? ha ha
Not fair that you know who I am and I don't know you, but I guess we will have to rectify that at the club meeting.
Merry merry to you and yours, and catch you later.

Hallo Laughing Girl. I also started with the 650 about 2 years ago. Wonderful bike. I have a 800ST now and enjoy riding even more.
Welcome to the club and looking forward to meet you.

Re: Tell us who you are?
If I saw correctly in a video clip on another forum, then LG has a red 650. Does not look as if it is the new 650 but rather the previous model.
Wonder whose it was?? LG - what is the reg. I have a suspision....

Re: Tell us who you are?
The bike was bought at Lifestyle so I think your suspicion might be wrong as they don't do trade-ins. If I remember correctly it was a “X” registration. To me it looked like a “brand new” 2007……maybe a “left over” from 2007?

Re: Tell us who you are?
DaveS, it is a "new" 2007 model - the shape which I actually prefer. The clip (if I am thinking of hte one I posted) is my bike. As you can see, it is definately the 2007 shape; but technically still "new" as it never had an owner before. As I understand it, it was practically the last one still "new" left in the country.
What can your suspicion like to be?

OK - then I'm wrong - thought it was bought at Bavarian.

What can your suspicion like to be? [/quote]
Thought maybe it was a club member who recently traded in her red 650GS for the 800ST.

Ja also had that thought, but then...
...That new bike will be nearly/just as good as the one with the previously-disadvantaged-gemmerkat-pillion.
Re: Tell us who you are?
Hi, I'm Drix (dakardrix)
Still smiling on my new 800GS after 4 weeks or so. Except that I dropped it last night for the first time, oh well, got to happen some time. Been back on a bike since April last year (2007) - done 57,000k on my Dakar since then. Just never climbed off. Haven't ridden for 20 odd-years before that.
Love geocaching on the bike, takes me to unknown places, all terrain.
Still a bit shocked to arrive at my first club evening (Dec 08 ) and everyone arrive with their cars!? Hope there are other bikers who actually ride their bikes or is this a BMW thing... (stir stir - seeing that I get lots of abuse from my non-BMW riding buddies)
Looking forward to meeting other dirt lovers!

The ones who ride their bikes were away on a trip for the weekend.

Re: Tell us who you are?
Dear Trix,
I guess you should have taken a more carefully look at the parking!!!
There were a lt of bikes there (and weren't from the dealer!!!)
But in general I have to agree with you....too much cars!

Yip you are correct, more cars than bikes... but then there is method in a BM Biker's madness.
1. It cannot be disputed that biking at night is dangerous, and we live 40km away into the bundu;
2. The most important reason for cars: Have you taken note of the price of refreshemnts at the counter? That and a bike and darkness after a good evening's kuier DO NOT mix!
Re: Tell us who you are?
....so what you are saying is push the bar prices up and more people will come by bike....

Re: Tell us who you are?
Hi I'm Leon, the Leo comes from my star sign.
Been riding for 27 years, firts bike was a Honda XL185S, bought with money from delivering news papers. Started riding between Wellington - school and boarding school and Riebeek West where we lived every Monday morning and Friday afternoons.
Bought my first boxer in '99, and although I'll buy other bikes I'll always have a boxer in my garage.
Current ride is a R1200GSA, but my heart is in a R80GS Kalahari.
Live in Pta, but work in Randburg, so I commute every day by bike.
Been a club member for a few years now, although I'm not very active at club level.
Get closterfobic (sp?) when there's too many people on a ride!
Love nature, the great outdoors and living the GS lifestyle.
See you all at the next club evening
