Will do so as soon as I can. Would love to have brought my current foreign bike to join you for the Milly's run but Sharon is flying to the UK on that day to see her youngest daughter so will not be able to. Boo Hoo.

Tony, good to see you as Tony R and no longer Guest. Welcome to the forum, and work hard on your wish to ride a RT. Great bike (and I am not biased just because I have one )

Re: Tell us who you are?
Bye the way, I have a lot of respect for the Triumph Sprint ST. Lovely Sports Tourer, but you won't find a lot of bikes beating the RT in the touring category (no bias of course, the stats say it all). Yes and I know that in another thread it was stated the a large % of stats is "bollie" but sales volumes can be trusted

Re: Tell us who you are?
Thanks for the welcome Andre. Bought the Triumph because I wanted something different. I have and still am enjoying immensely but agree that the RT will be better for touring. I think that as our bodies age, not our minds, the ability to lie down with all your weitht on your wrists tends to become more difficult and not what pleasure is about. The camaradie of a group of like minded bikers, touring or riding with your partner and seeing this beautiful country of ours in something other than a cage is what it is all about. Will work hard to get my RT,

Re: Tell us who you are?
I find it interesting to read all the sales stuff about the bikes and all the people who do "trip reports of tourers" that are actually just a fast dash across the country.
While I was traveling to Cape Town and up to Saldanah Bay I was amazed to the see the lack of non-BMW bikes on the open road. There are some, but they are usually just found near the towns.
And when you see two-up on a bike, guess what make is it?
I love the sound of a Ducati, the looks of a Harley and the quickness of the GSX1000 in corners, but my next bike will be a GS to go with my GT.

Re: Tell us who you are?
You've got 2 chances - and either of them have the same chance of being succesfull. Do yourself a favour - take an LT for a spin. Did the Bakenkop run his morning - wont go into the speeds we travelled there, but what a pleasure doing that in the utmost of confort - no white knuckle hanging onto the handlebars. I have had the pleasure of riding both the GT and RT - will have a diffult choice between the 2 - but the LT will always be my 1ste choice.

Do you want to know who I am? I am a BIKER!
OK, I know I am not where you guys are, but that is OK. I am no longer a slowcoach.
One of these days BMW will have a LT for me to test. I have always admired the bike.
As far as the GT / RT is concerned, they are both great bikes, but the choice is easy! Fire up that 4 cylinder, get used to the weight and there is no other choice for me. In the beginning I must say that the RT was easier for me to handle than the GT. I could "throw" it around but then I got used to the smooth power of the GT.
However, when I buy my GS, it will be a Boxer engine for sure. They just go so well together!
Re: Tell us who you are?
I just like giving LeRoy and Andre bietjie bollie about their bikes. Their unborn children knows more about bikes than me. But it is fun to poke them a bit Until they don....... me

Re: Tell us who you are?
It is taken in a good spirit. Normally get a lot of ribbing because of my bike choise - but the comfort we experience when travelling more than makes up for it. Reed the Postings by Chris (2UP4ADV) iro the LT - it is the most highly underrated bike in the BMW range of products.
Granted it is big and heavy - but therein lies your safety margin - when you brake - you stop, and the weight keeps it on the road - regardless of how you flip it around in traffic depending on what the idiots in the cages do.
Erich's black LT is normally the test LT.
