ok, you made your point
the pack coming through. Look at the angle of the BM......Xaus can only shine during practise or just after the start
well attended and in the foreground.......
this baby
with it's somewhat contraversial
but super sexy behind
and imo the cause for BMW's poor performance this weekend

Re: WSBK weekend 15 - 17 May 09
I must say the racing was great yesterday, but the BMW were disappointing!
Who is this Steve Martin racing as backup for Troy!? He could barely stay ahead of the Zimbabwean!
Getting something to drink or eat was almost impossible – heard people standing 1:45min to get lunch, I did not even try! This for a so called world class event is pathetic – if you don’t allow people bringing in their own food and drink then at least make sure that they can get something to eat or drink!
Luckily we had a big breakfast and survived the rest of the day on Millers and Jelly tots :-0

Re: WSBK weekend 15 - 17 May 09
Yesterday was AWESOME !
Nothing like the sound of a pack of bikes thundering around the track !
Agree with Jamie, no matter how good your surround sound at home is, there is NOTHING like being there ! Still amazed at the extent to which the guys lean into the corners ! Wow !
Weather was perfect.(Sat was cold and wet and Today is mid-winter - BRRR! ) Toilets were clean with no queues ! Only disappointment ( besides BM's performance) was the food. Whoever thought of a system to queue to first pay for your food then to queue again to order your food! We eventually got a refund and also had Jelly-Tots and Coke Zero for lunch ! Such a pity for a fantastic event ! Wish the organisers would WAKE UP !
Thanks Dave for a great day !

I agree:
- An awesome day
- The supplies and service couldnt meet the demand..
peanuts and jelly tots pulled me through the morning.
But eventually got my chicken prego roll and drink after 2pm..
missed the first 18rounds of the Supersport Race while queuing,
but was in time to see Laverty speeding away the last few laps...
Do you want to see more pics?

Re: WSBK weekend 15 - 17 May 09
This was indeed an awesome experience. Sias and myself took the chance of driving there Sunday morning and then luckily we were able to buy some tickets from Computicket at the gate!!! And I definitely don't regret going!! Enjoyed it very very much!
I will however need to agree with some in terms of the organising of the event. Sias and I were seated on Stand 22 (I think I see ourselves in Jamie's photo) however they made us park behind Stage 45/54?? This is right on the other side of the track!!!! And we also had to wait about an hour for food!
But still being there and expereincing such an event is all worth it!!!

Thanks for the great pictures guys (and gall!). We forgot our camera at home, but can almost prove we were there thanks to MadnohB...
Well, maybe not... It really was a great day and what an experience. I only noticed the New S1000RR standing right accross us at the end of the day. Glad you were able to inspect it from nereby Jamie as I'm sure your name is already on the list!

Re: WSBK weekend 15 - 17 May 09
NOT ALL DOOM AND GLOOM FOR BMW
As with any new team and bike, BMW will be at a disadvantage this season because, unlike most or all of their competitors, they will not have any previous data with which to work with when they get to the various tracks. Much like F1, the drivers/riders are top class.
The BMW team will simply be playing catch up this year, trying to interpret each circuit will present a new challenge with their bike set-ups and how the bike reacts to different tyre compounds. I am sure everybody involved is determined to do the very best they can and try to pull off a surprise or two. Nevertheless, I enjoyed all 3 days, was truly awesome.

Re: WSBK weekend 15 - 17 May 09
Thanks for all the amazing photos. What memories!
A few 600's wished they were a GS when they hit the bottom of the Mineshaft, other than that, all the action there was between the red and white striping. The acceleration up to Turn 13 was mindblowing, the replacement for the silly Esses must be awesome!
Thanks Dave and Dot for a lovely day, much appreciated. Also, to the rest of the 'gang', thanks for the company.

Even though the BMW's Kayalami perfomance was a bit dissappointing, I still think that this is a stunning piece of machinery and I'd much rather be riding the Beemer those Jap jobbies.
It would be interresting to see what a real good and experienced rider (Such as the Doc) will do with the BMW on the race track.

Re: WSBK weekend 15 - 17 May 09
Regis Laconi was operated on this morning at Sunninghill Hospital in Sandton (Johannesburg) by Dr. Maurizio Zorio and his team. The outcome fully lived up to the expectations of the medical team and the head physician confirmed that the operation was a perfect success and did not require any further intervention.
The Frenchman, who crashed on his out lap in Friday morning free practice in a fast left-hand curve at Kyalami circuit, was fitted with a metal plate that stabilized the two cervical vertebrae fractured in the crash. In addition a fragment of bone that had lodged close to the spinal cord was also removed and plastic surgery was carried out on the relevant area with a skin graft from the hip. After this lengthy operation, Laconi was moved to intensive care for the normal period of convalescence following this type of injury. He is reported to be reacting well and in the next 24 hours will be reawakened once again to begin the long period of rehabilitation.
Regis will probably remain in hospital until the end of the month after which he will be transferred to a specialized clinic in Paris by plane. The situation is reported to be positive and barring complications, for Laconi there should be no physical consequences. Any decision regarding his eventual return to racing has been postponed until a future date.

Naah. You buy into the system. The friends, people, shared riding pleasure, availability of parts, friendly BMW service etc, etc. When you look at the total BMW system it is just head and shoulders ahead of anything out there (except maybe HD, but then you have to ride a Harley )

As a lurker for some time, i found this thread informative up to now. This reply may also not be politically very correct as first post.
interesting forum ethics though.
You are also more than 36hours late with the news.

Once a press release is issued, it’s public property. To repeat someone else’s article verbatim under a different name without acknowledging the source, is a big no. Let me guess BMWfanatic is:
a. A journalist
b. A lawyer
c. In the patenting/intellectual property rights business
d. A Corporate Brand manager
Not sure how copyrights/IP etc impact on forums. You can obviously not control what people get from what sources without referencing the original source.
I have many times heard news bulletins read on SABC verbatim only to find that the same news article is on NEWS24, Beeld and DSTV text news verbatim, without any source to the original reference by some of the parties.
BTW
We also post history on our forum not only the latest news
