Johan - as said we will leave at 10:00. Andre will also be leaving at the same time - he will probably be there before us. But that is where we will be meeting and riding from.
So just wait for us. Have a coffee. will probably be there by 11:00 - leave there at the latest by 11:30. Gives us more than enough time to get there before dark - counting the 2 stops we will be making on the way.

.......sounds great to me!
I'll be leaving office to pick up my goodies in Wingate Park. From there I'll take the Delmas-Nigel-Heidelberg route and meet Andre at Engen/Villiers (although I don't think we've met formally, I think I know who Andre is.....will be on the lookout for the BMW). We will have the coffee while waiting for you.

Jip, that's the guy I had in mind......the man with the big smile in Dani's pic in the Dullstroom trip report. Proof for the functionality of trip reports!.....Viva trip reports, viva!! (I can't believe I've just said "viva" .......must be the new SA).
My bike is the blue ST......but I will be alone . [blond from Durban meets me at "The Nest"].

I am planning to leave at 09h00 to 09h15 in Centurion at Airbase onto the R21, shortcut through the Greate North to Heidelburg with the first stop at Villiers. The the alternate route to Warden, Harrysmith, Sterkfonteindam, R600 end point. I can not get away earlier so I will do a solo at slow pace.

See pages 3 - 4......why don't you consider meeting the others in Villiers and then via Van Reenen.....? I'm leaving Wingate Park for Delmas-Nigel-Heidelberg-Villiers at 9am.....solo so far. (Except, of course, if you prefer the solo-thing anyway).

Re: BMW Biker Gathering: 29 - 31 May 2009 (ABBG)
I unfortunately have a Tender meeting that has been scheduled for this Friday - ?????. Tried moving it to earlier in the week - but to no avail. The meeting commences at 9. My 3 items are first on the agenda - so i will be picking Elsabe up at 10 (Might be a few minutes late depending on the traffic in town).
I expect to be at the Engen just before Villiers at 11:30 - with the departure time there set for latest 12:00. Leaving us the rest of the day to do the remaining 250 odd kms to our destination. Elsabe will be sending Andre an SMS just before leaving so as to update him.
See you either at the Engen or at Champagne Sport Resort. Regards and safe riding.

Why bother - just make sure that your riding gear looks the same. Dont think i will have time to clean the LT - will in any case catch a lot of beatles and gung on the way there.

If the weather holds - it seems we will be in for a somewhat cold but dry ride. Looking forward to Friday - will have to do a bit of low flying to get to Villiers on time.

Re: BMW Biker Gathering: 29 - 31 May 2009 (ABBG)
Mornings and evenings are cold.
When I arrived there about 10h00, it was 9C.
Some mornings were 3C.
During the day was about 21C.
I heard on Highveld this morning that they are expecting snow this weekend. So dress warmly !, but also bring other clothes for daytime.
This weekend, there were even guys swimming, but then they were from the UK ! They saw the sun so thought it was summer. I'm sure the water was FREEZING !
The venue is truely BEAUTIFUL ! They had fires in the lounges, pub and even in the restaurant. There are no fireplaces in the Hotel rooms, but in the Chalets.

Snow - suppose it will only be high-up. But it will have an effect on the temps. Seems you had a nice dry weekend. Deon - when and how are you leaving.
