Re: 8 Feb ROAD Memoirs
My memoirs on the ride:
A very memorable ride of just over 200km to the breakie point (van Gaalens). The group was well behaved and we did not encounter any problems en route. The leg-stretcher at Damdoryn was just at the right time and guess whom we bumped into... Jamie and family!
The breakfast was good as before and the roadies did not wait too long for the off-roaders to join at the tables. Must say though the roadies outnumbered by bikes and souls...
One point of positive criticism, and very well meant; maybe just three or four too many regrouping stops during the first part of the ride.
Thanks Richard for your detailed briefing and lead. Well done as always!

Re: 8 Feb ROAD Memoirs
Glad you enjoyed it.
It may be a pain on regroups, but getting a group of twenty five or more bikes through town traffic lights is hell without losing half of the group.
I have considered bypassing town completely, but the only viable option is the N4 Doornpoort tollgate and cut out Hornsnek to go off at the first Brits Turnoff.
Boring highway, to my way of thinking, but faster and more expensive.
