Yes - crappy feeling - tend to give you a bit of a wobble - not nice at a relatively high speed.

Agreed that you have to be careful, don't think the road engineers have much of a chouce thought (any experts around Rolling Eyes ), best we can hope for is that they re-tar it ASAP

I think it qualifies as a mild edge trap.

I ride that route every single day and I am used it already. Unlike a normal edge trap you can easily turn out of it, it will not grab your wheel and throw you down.

Had a few less than happy experiences today coming back on the N12 pas Sandton - a few very deep ruts in the road - tend to give you a serious wiggle when crossing or re-crossing it. But if you know it is coming it can be handled.

That entire section of highway is not very bike friendly at the moment. There is very little room between vehicles and so lane splitting has become very difficult. Add to it the grooves and ruts and do it in peak traffic and it tests riding skills to the limit.

Yes - got stuck in the traffic jam there on Sunday (5 Oct) coming back from the Parys ride. Did not do the complete ride - went through to Potch.
Eventually came through the traffic - bit less wiggle space between the cars. So it took longer, to get trough but we still got through quicker than the cars and other traffic.

I came along that stretch of road on Thursday, an it was insane with only 2 lanes and one with broken down taxi. I would hate to travel that road during rush hour traffic.

But I have to say it is absolutely fantastic that our money is now being used to address the incredible congestion issues on our roads! For too long it was just left while more and more complexes and office blocks were built.

I must say that those grooves gave me a serious fright the first time as well. affraid
