Tyre air pumps Empty Tyre air pumps

Post by Happy-go-lucky 3rd November 2008, 12:27

On my way to Badplaas this weekend, my rear was feeling rather slippery, especially in the sections of strong wind. I discover my rear tyre pressure was 1.8 instead of 2.1 when we checked our pressures for the GS route. I always had a hard time at the fuel stations as most air pressure nozzle don't fit onto the F650GS rear tyre value, due to the chain or breaking disk being in the way of long straight nozzle. I was lucky to find a bend nozzle at a Shell in Nelspruit that could fit onto the rear tyre value.

I looking to buy a bike air pump with flex tube nozzle for my GS, so I don't have to struggle any more in finding a fuel station that can pump my tyres. Any recommendation of products and where to get them.

Talk to Lennie - Bavaria has special valves that has a 90 degree bend to allow for this - i have the same issue with the LT - space is very limited at both the front and back wheel. I mostly land up doing it myself as you must know where and how the airhose nozzle has to brought in.

This is what you need:
Tyre air pumps 71111239258
They are a standard BMW part, but I can't tell you what it is.
There are also other distributors worldwide...

Thanx, I already bought a 90 degree bend connector and served me well on my last trip.

They should not be fitted permanently...just for pumping purposes !

There are better valve stems for permanent use - on tubeless tyres only, of course! I had Wunderlich ones on my previous GS. They need to be fitted from the inside, so do it when you change tyres.

They look like this:
