Re: A fantastic Year End Funtion 2
Between the 3 “YEF” posts with photos, we now had 252 views (and counting) which is fantastic……..with only 1 reply………..
It takes a fair effort to –
document a trip;
resize and edit the photos for publication; and
to upload them
The respective sources of the photos have them to look at whenever they want.......the sharing thereof is mostly for the benefit of others
any comments (replies) – good, bad or neutral - would therefore be much appreciated

Gr8 pics MadnohB, GSlady, Dave and Johan. I sometimes get the feeling that no news is good news. The members only really make noises if you really mess up. Otherwise they are like lambs to the slaughter

Must admit i tend to agree with Sharkie - seems as if it was a very lekker kuier - pity we had to sit this one out - prior commitments made a long time ago that we could not get out of. To all who attended glad you enjoyed it, and safely there and back.

Re: A fantastic Year End Funtion 2
As the heading suggests…….a very good and well organised weekend.
In a nut shell:
- a windy but nice ride there for some;
- an extremely wet and stormy ride there for others;
- nice and relaxing enjoyment of the facilities Friday afternoon for the early leavers.
- good social during Friday night’s braai;
- some took Saturday to chill and to enjoy all the resort had to offer;
- great outride on Saturday for others with a few mishaps here and there…..nothing serious though.
- Saturday was also one for the record books
- I got to ride the big LT on Saturday…….and what an experience that was given I jumped straight from the K12S on the LT
- Well organised and enjoyable function Saturday night with good food and great company which carried on till way past decent hour
- Windy, nice and uneventful ride back
Our thanks to all involved in organising the event - great job – and to all biker friends who were there the weekend – we enjoyed your company
Thanks for having us along

Jamie - and how did you find the ride - no comparison to the S - but a very nice ride. Would however like to know what your thought are on this. Hope you scraped the footpegs.

Re: A fantastic Year End Funtion 2
Yes - i know it is huge - but once you get to know it, it is as nimble as the S. Flipping it from side to side in the twisties you merely have to think about it.
But the same principle applied when i took the S for a days testrun when the LT was in for its 10k service - the cornering dinamics is completely different and one is not used to it - hence i wont do what you regard as very basic on the S.
Glad you took it for a run. Broadens the horizons. Must however admit the S will make me do irresponsible things.

in general biking terms, the "S" would not be described as nimble - the wheel base is far too long for that.....stable will be more accurate. A superbike fits the nimble description very well. However, compared to the LT, the S feels like a jumping-hare and looks like an adolescent......................................

Re: A fantastic Year End Funtion 2
I read with interest about your weekend and enjoyed all the pics!
What caught my eye was the fine print.
And by the way, I note somebody has given up their chair in the green room

Re: A fantastic Year End Funtion 2
Looks like it was fun for all who attended. I was privy in a mail to that record book entry. Lets just say posting it on a public forum would not be wise.
One day when I'm older I will attend a year end function

Definitely not wise to publish the record.
Morpheus, you already ancient so you are allowed to attend year end functions already.

Re: A fantastic Year End Funtion 2
Referring to the record, this is a bit like pulling teeth. It seems like this was not a record related to fuel efficiency. I fully understand that Madnohb doesn’t want to reveal numbers.
Having looked up the specs of the K, my interest is more in handling characteristics at top end.
By the way, if you need anything for the Honda, PM me, I can help you at cost prices.

We went through two passes on the way to Barberton. The first was Nelshoogte and the second was Bothasnek.

Re: A fantastic Year End Funtion 2
The long wheelbase and the weight of the K are the reasons the bike can not be described as nimble………like a superbike. In real life though, both these factors count in favour of the K. The stability is excellent and the long wheel base is countering front-end lift under full acceleration. In any event, it’s only on a tight race track and maybe a road like the “22” in ET where it will be outperformed by my superbike with reference to handling.
No bike is particularly stable on outright top end – especially the numbers the K is capable of – external factors like road surface and wind play too big a roll. In terms of handling during “normal spirited” to aggressive riding, the K is top drawer and its unique suspension is superior to anything I have ever ridden before.
As for the Honda, I just might take you up on the offer. It seems that “small mishaps” follows this bike like a plague. Just before we left for the YEF I gave instruction for the bike to be cleaned while we are away…………..only to be informed when we came back that the bike was dropped from the paddock stand
