A fantastic trip !
This was truely a wonderful experience !
Thank-you to everyone, especially to Dave Swart for his usual extra assistance. The T-shirts were a great success ! Well done !
Below are a few pics of our trip. They just do not do justice to the majestic sights we experienced throughout our trip.
A very excited group waiting to load our bikes and begin our trip.
was a bit of a chilly start, but that did nothing to dampen our spirits
Then the time came to load our bikes. It really wasn't as bad as we had feared.
The bikes were secured and checked by JB Tours before we departed.
After loading the bikes, we boarded the train
The train cabins were small but clean
and what a view . . .
The whole trip there were wonderful sites you wouldn't normally experience in a car
Then we saw the first snow
We offloaded the bikes in Worcester . . . off loading was also quite simple . . . even for the larger bikes.
We rode up and down those wonderful twisties. . . definitely going back there again !
What a beautiful sight !
This was the view from our lunch venue
There were many beautiful sights along the way !
Hotel accomodation was fantastic with a great breakfast ! This was the view from my room.
We had to force ourselves to a eat a kg of prawns for R99 at Quay Four at the Waterfront
Franschoek
du Toit's Kloof
View from Sir Lowrey's Pass
Hermanus . Was the most wonderful timing as it was the Whale Festival. Very special.
Some of us made an unscheduled stop at Rooi Els. Didn't complain as we did Sir Lowrey's Pass and coast road to Gordon's Bay twice.Definitely going back there as well !
What more could you want, the world's best bike in the most beautiful part of the world !
Leaving Cape Town station this morning - as said by Arnold, I'll be back !

Re: A fantastic trip !
Thanks to all who made this trip so enjoyable - the BMW Club members as well as the other people on the tour - what a great bunch of people!!
And what a well organised tour JB Tours presents.
Here some more pics to add to Deon's.
The Club group before loading the bikes
Checking that the bikes are secure
At dinner on the train
A view from the train the next morning
..like a scene out of the movies..
The first glimpse of the snow covered mountains
Farm dams reflecting the surrounding scenery..
At Worcester unloading the bikes - now which way did he say I should go??
...always seems to be a K on our trips... . This time Gavin from Satans Saints Motorcycle club
Abe Coetzee
The bikes all unloaded and ready to roll..
The first day the weather played along and we had a fantastic ride with fantastic views. Hex River Valley
Further on a rock whose right side looks like a face
At lunch Herman summed up the view pretty well..
Bains Kloof - very bumpy and narrow road.
This was also the first road in South Africa to be tolled
...and those prawns Deon mentioned..
Tuesday was very wet - bikes pictured at Hout Bay
Decided to cancel the days ride and we headed back to the hotel.
Wednesday was also a bit windy and rainy, but that did not stop the group from enjoying a fantastic days riding
Can Can in Franschhoek
Coffee and cake in Villiersdorp
..and after Gydo pass (shown above by Deon) and other it was on to a wet Du Toitskloof Inn for lunch
Not sure what the joke was here but it must have been good
Thursday saw us start the day with Tessa's birthday
and then riding up Sir Lowry's pass where we were closely watched by some of the locals
After Houwhoek pass and some others it was on to
Napier for coffee
..and some freshly baked bread
at the kuiergat
..and then on to Hermanus for lunch that was accommanied by some whale watching
From Hermanus we travelled through Kleinmond through Rooi Els to Gordons Bay and back to our hotel for the last time.
Leaving Hermanus we 'lost' some the group and arranged to meet up on the road - managed to find them in Rooi Els
Things were a bit blurry at this stage
and after a few phone calls we met up with the group again on the Rooi Els road.
Today was back on the train for a last look at the snow covered mountains as the train headed back to Johannesburg
