Re: 2008 - TOY RUN
Exactly, just make sure you're there!
This one's arrangements are not in our hands, Metro and ThinkBikers will lead the way!
And as for the trip from Shell to Silverton: So many roads to take you there - another might be Atterbury to the east, left in Lois (?), Glenwood, Lynnburn, over the hill at Watermeyer Shopping Centre - is it Onida? Fakkel to Pretoria Rd.
Enjoy the day! Unfortunately, my bike and I wont be there
Admin should create a thread in TRIP REPORTS... for all your pictures of the day?

Re: 2008 - TOY RUN
I knew where she was all the time...!
I had her 'slightly moth-balled' under protective covers and aluminium foil to prevent sun damage.
But I cleared her off, cleaned her up , charged the battery, pumped the tyres and put R100 bucks of go-juice the tank and there she was, in all her glory.

Re: 2008 - TOY RUN
Comparative to the K1200S and the R1200S it is. Just about as slow as the GS.
Coming back from the Toyrun yesterday - lucky the speedies were elsewhere accupied.

Re: 2008 - TOY RUN
I have to confess that I missed the Toy Run due to only getting home at 05:30 Sunday morning after a rough day and night. (no further details!)
My dad did go though with mom as pillion. At my father's request I would like to commend and thank a PTA club member called Alun/Allan(? - not sure about the spelling, but he has long hair) for displaying the true club spirit at Sunday's Toy Run:
A friend of mine, Frikkie, recently bought a 1938 WWII original BMW with sidecar - military edition. We invited him to the October club evening, which he really enjoyed, promising to join the club ASAP. He had been out of town for work though, and when we saw him last Thursday, we told him about the Toy Run and invited him along. His girlfriend Melanie occupied the sidecar and fortunately they found my parents at the chaotic Silverton meeting point. They rode together, being joined by Alun. After certain traffic problems and only maintaining an average of 70-80kph they arrived at Nasrec later than planned, where my parents decided to turn back immediately and not spend time. My father was concerned about Frikkie and Melanie though - which was when Alun promised to stick with them on the way back as well and help them if they had any problems.
For this selfless act we would like to thank Alun for making the Bezuidenhout family proud of being BMW PTA motorcycle club members and helping a friend of ours (and soon-to-be club member) feel right at home!
Way to go Alun...

Re: 2008 - TOY RUN
JP, thanx for the compliment.
Well it is part of my nature to help others, especially friends and club members without giving much thought about my time spent on helping out. Frikkie asked me at Silverton to ride with him to Nasrec, to which I simply replied with a "Yes.". Had no idea Andre would also be riding with Frikkie, until we had travelled a few blocks into the CBD.
The spelling is Alun, but people can spell my name anyway they like, mostly in order: Alan, Allan, Allen, Alun.

Re: 2008 - TOY RUN
Did not try very hard, and if i must say so myself - did a damn good job of it. Having said that - as you all know that was there the traffic was a bit hectic - must have slowed Dave down as well.

Actually had a very nice ride until the traffic after the accident. Rode behind the same 'mustard yellow' 1200GS for most of the way and in the same lane too. Until the u-turn hardly had a need to change lanes at all.
