Club GS Ride - 03 August 2008
We had a lovely, very dusty, GS ride today of about 160km. The trip took us from Atterbury Shell, over the Waterkloof koppie, then past Rietvlei Dam, and along the railroad towards Bapsfontein. Then we took mainly dirt-roads all the way to Cullinan, and then back for a few beers and something to eat at Foundry.
Thanks again to Colin for leading a wonderful ride and to Pauli for riding in ALL the dust as sweep.
I did not take a lot of pics, but here they are:
and also a big thanks to all the guys that joined in !!!!!

To each his own - thouroughly enjoyed the road ride to Magaliesburg. Got stopped at the top of Hekpoort for a license check. Goes to show one should always carry your license with you. Very friendly cops - was not necessary to ask for their id as Loox suggested in an earlier posting.

Glad you guys enjoyed your GS run too. As per LeRoy's comment, we (roadies) had a great ride too. Lots of fun and laughter and a great brekkie and an impressive turn-up. Was really the perfect day for a ride.LeRoy Olivier wrote:thouroughly enjoyed the road ride to Magaliesburg.

Thanks to Collin and Pauli for a great ride yesterday. It was a great route to get a first timer like me a bit more confident.

Re: Club GS Ride - 03 August 2008
Question to the guys that were there - was I the only one that had a few hairy moments? (tankslapper, front wheel that sometimes wanted to follow its own route??)

Re: Club GS Ride - 03 August 2008
I only had one moment with a lekker "tank-slapper". It was on one piece of dirt-road where there were a tractor with a trailor with some guys on the trailor. It was on the right hand side of the road. I was looking at the tractor and then had some serious front-wheel action !!! I was on about 70km/h.
My stomach had a very funny feeling after that, but the first thing I thought was: "WOW - a steering damper would have helped" !!!!

I had a dodgy moment down that first technical bit where I thought I switched my ABS off but didn’t do it right. So I went down a bit faster and a bit wobblier than I would have liked to. It’s never nice to go down a rocky stretch and when you hit the back break you hear the ABS kick in!
