Would you be interested in attending an accredited First Aid course arranged by the Club?
Re: First Aid Training - Interested...?
Peter and I will be talking to the rides sub-committee on Thursday regarding this...

Re: First Aid Training - Interested...?
We're trying to fix some possible dates - discussing on Thursday with Red Cross and we'll post afterwards.

First aid training
Count us in. Elaine and myself for a Saturday. This is a necessity for all bikers.

Re: First Aid Training - Interested...?
OK, here's the news.
The Committee supports training of riders and this course is also supported.
The First Aid (Lvl1) course will have to take place over 3 days:
2 days instruction by Red Cross instructor
1/2 day exam ( you gotta too?)
1/2 day motorcycle specific instruction.
The course costs R400 + a manual, sundry bits of equipment @R100 = R500
I have discussed with the committee and the Club will refund attending members R100 on presentation of their certificates. (U pass, we pay?)
So, we have to find 3 days to do it in....
I propose Saturday+Sunday followed by the next Saturday to write the exam and do the motorcycle-specific stuff.
I'm testing the waters on this:
I don't believe we can do this before the end of the year. October is already full and November is crazy with year-end parties, etc. December is holidays. So I propose January, week after the first club meeting and the Saturday after that.
Waddayousay?

Re: First Aid Training - Interested...?
I love your way of thinking (doing the First Aid Training). I am a trained Level 3 First Aider, and cannot emphasise it enough of how much it has helped me in situations, whether at home, at work, or anywhere else.
I hope you watched 3-Talk on Monday afternoon. Noelene did an interview with Emergency Personnel (including doctors), and it was well worth it.

Re: First Aid Training - Interested...?
Actually watched a part of the program, again convinced me of the necessity of basic knowledge in this regard.
Did "Buddy-Aid" in the 80's in the army - gave you basic knowledge of what to do or not to do - am a bit rusty by now - hence my support for this.

I guess that is why the army gives you a gun. If all else fails...
Over and above the training, I would appreciate some guidance on what goes into the first aid kit - seeing that space is quite limited on an longer trip. Does anyone have a checklist available?

I think it has rolled over, all right! So who's gonna take this to the next level.
You don't want ME to arrange nurses - they won't know the first thing about giving aid...

Re: First Aid Training - Interested...?
Hello interested members...!
The Confederation of African Football competition has troubled the waters for making arrangements.
Most Emergency Medical Personnel in the country are going into 12 shifts around the clock from 1st June
as part of the medical support service plan - and so we can't get instructors.
I will keep following up.
