I guess it depends on the bike you are riding and the tankbag you buy Very Happy I use the specially designed BMW tankbag on my RT. Special rails on the tank provide a damagefree way to mount your tankbag. It simply clicks on and off. No fuss Wink I find it very handy for things such as my rainsuit, spare pair of gloves, a medical kit, my cellphone and my wallet. Also handy for a bottle of water and a snack, not to mension my iPod that is neatly tucked away inside (and waterproof) with just the earphone wires showing. And no, it is not in the way of any of my dials or controls Very Happy

Reply i got today.....

E-Mail... ventureshieldsa@gmail.com

Thank you for your interest in Ventureshield's pre-cut Paint Protection kits.

I have attached a picture of all the full kit including the options packages for the paniers etc. This, (apart from the Ducati Desmosdecidi) is the largest, bike kit we have available. We fitted a R1200RT last month in Centurion for a private customer and was more than well protected.

I presume its for the 2008 model, which is the picture I attached. Please decide which area's or items you or your customer would like to protect. Please circle the picture and fax it back to me on 086 557 5409 . I will then plot it out and give you a costing as per items selected.

The costing are worked out per square meter at R1725-00 retail and R1500-00 Dealer. The Full R1200RT kit with options is huge (as far as bikes go) at 2.6m sq. Fitment is a couple of hour's.

If it interests you, we could drop off a sample piece of film for you.

Interesting points:

Strongest film on the market ( 20lbs breaking point vs. 9lbs)
pre cut ( no cutting on the vehicle)
clearest film with no unsightly orange peel effect
Lifetime Warranty
Listed in the Bmw international bike accessory catalogue

Looking forward to your response

Kind Regards

The cost is a minimum of R3750 for a RT is seems. Quite a lot of money. What is the cost of a respray for damaged areas if needed in comparison Question Must say, I am not convinced. Will have to sleep on this one for a few nights Exclamation

Yes - one will have to make up your own mind here - regardless of what you do - you are bound to pick up nicks and scratches on your bike. However this is still a personal choice.

As I said previously VPS have been around a long time and their pricing is better than some of the other products. They use 3M product which is made in the USA and is very robust.

I must say this looks like a great idea. Will certianly be looking into it to prevent expensive paint scratches.
