Fun in the sun - a Ride Report
We were fortunate to have a few days of fun in the sun .. not on our BMW's but on 2-wheelers of another kind.
A few pictures to share:
Our rental bicycles - with a few adjustments and additions (our own clip pedals, GPS & bracket - and my own seat!)
Lovely bike paths:
around the Bay of Arcachon
close to the Dune of Pyla
in Bordeaux
on our way back from St Emilion to Bordeaux
The whole town of St-Emilion is a UNESCO World Heritage Site:
A historic vineyard landscape that stayed intact over many centuries and is still productive.
It was an absolute amazing experience to ride through this and other medieval villages.
70kms from Bordeaux is the Bay of Arcachon and the highest sand dune in Europe - La Dune du Pilat 105 meters high
While hubby was occupied with business and clients, I had time to see what Bordeaux looks like;
Bordeaux Le Lac
And of course a visit to the local BMW Motorrad
The new F800R..
One for LeRoy
Not even a GS would be able to cross here . ..
And when time runs out, you simply get on the tram..
A big thank you to Marius for taking me along!
I'm convinced that the best way to explore a relative small area or big city is by bicycle.
1. Slower is safer when you're not used to keep right all the time
2. Bicycles can go where pedestrians can - for example a big part of the city of Bordeaux is pedestrianised
3. There are lots of cycle paths - within and outside of the city
Of course you can travel longer distances on a bike - but that's an adventure for another time...

That town is beautiful. Next time I in France I should make my way there.
That bicycle looks out of place next to those GS.

Re: Fun in the sun - a Ride Report
Very beautiful - now more convinced than ever to next time visit the south of france. Tend to agree with you - if you want to see the country either use public transport of bicycle.
Thanks for the pic of the 1998 K1100LT - was the preclude to the K1200LT that came out in 1999. A while ago Bavaria had one on the floor.
You did not per chance see what the mileage on it was.????
