Re: Get my Fiance to ride with me
I have the same problem !!!
She has gone with me a few times, but she is very scared. I took her along on the Tresure Hunt so that she can meet some of the other dudes and dolls on the bikes. We went in the car though !!!
I can reccommend you bring her along to a club-evening where she can meet other ladies riding pillion. She will get alot of info and be more comfortable. I intend doing the same on the next club-night.

Re: Get my Fiance to ride with me
My wife of 29 years still won't ride pillion with me. I miss her when I'm away, but she will not ride behind me and that is it...!
One thing that I am very grateful for - she doesn't stop me from riding. For that reason, I don't push her to ride with me.
I have had my daughter, my German-exchange-student-daughter - even one or two female friends that asked me for a ride - but never my wife.

Re: Get my Fiance to ride with me
You have my simpathy in this regard. Elsabe has no problem riding pillion. Had to start out slowly - and corner very rustig - no hooligan stuff. You are welcome to come and talk to Elsabe and myself at the next clubmeeting.
I also hear what Richard says - but i only fully enjoy the bike with Elsabe on the back.
Which bike do you ride - does it have a top box - if so always have it and the side panniers on when lifting - gives them something to sit against and gives them a feeling of security in this regard. LeRoy

Re: Get my Fiance to ride with me
Read it - does not defray from my comments. Obviously it will take some hard work to convince her - but in the end reason will prevail. Hope the bike is fixed soon and the cost is not to high.
When the bike is fixed do short rides from home - go somewhere close to drink coffee, go to the movies - but short rides (less than 50km's) - in and around town. Mostly how i got Elsabe interrested in and liking the bike ride itself. Touring can be worked in later. LeRoy.

Lastly - slow pull-aways, and don't wiggle in traffic - until she is very comfortable on the back, and trust the bike and your biking abilities. You will get there, and once you have her convinced, the pleasure of doing it together cannot be described. LeRoy

I agree... it is great fun sharing the experience together! I am a pillion and enjoy every moment, long distances, short distances, rain, no rain... I'm enjoying every single moment of being a pillion, while is lasts, cause one day I will want to ride a bike myself and then there's no turning back!

Re: Get my Fiance to ride with me
Bear, tell her by riding with you, she has the opportunity to hold you as long as she likes...cause face it, you guys don't like cuddling all that much!
She really doesn't know what she is missing out on! I myself wasn't to fond of the bike thing either, but tried since Sias is crazy about bikes and I thought, hey..this might be something we can do togehter. And suprise, suprise... I fell in love with the whole thing!

Re: Get my Fiance to ride with me
Must be honest, about a year and a half ago i borrowed an RT from lifestyle and went on a b/run to cullinan and then on to Bronkhorstspruit to see the monestary there and she went with, was very nervous but she sort of enjoyed it...
Especially after we stopped on the way back at a pub and she had a drink ! (I had a coke)..
When i sell my ST and get an RT it might be different

Re: Get my Fiance to ride with me
Cuddling - can one ever cuddle to much - althoug the time and place is much more important - dont think the bike is the right place though - can lead to serious mishaps. Planning thus of utmost importance. LeRoy

Re: Get my Fiance to ride with me
Must think me is a lucky one. Me wife just love the open road. Me thinks it is the droewors that is usually in the top box.
She once almost fell off because she dozed off. Luckily I felt she was sliding to one side and woke her with a quick "opstopper" with the back of my elbow.

Frightening! It seems almost more important for the pillion to stock up on coffee and red bul than the rider. I cant see how one can fall asleep on a bike. Must be doing very long stretches at a time. Then again, I am still a young biker, so I am on cloud 9 whenever I am on my bike
