Re: A Slip & Slide Start - Transkei Trip Report
Day 7th ….
After 2 days in Mouth Bay, we leaved early in the morning heading the Mountains.
With the Sunrise, become the fog…
For the ones who were in “Die hell” the Colin’s French tyres starting leaking again…
But just once…rs
Passing through the beautiful Maclear, we started climbing in Rhodes Direction…
Everybody together waiting to the magnificent “NaudesNec”…
Our place in Rhodes “Rubicon”
The cold weather does not stop our meetings …
Coming Up…
Going Up to TIFFINDELL….

Re: A Slip & Slide Start - Transkei Trip Report
More misty pics...
We left Kei Mouth very early, in anticipation of Naude's Neck - I read somewhere it's the highest pass in South Africa.
This picture was taken by Willem after a lovely stretch of easy gravel, just as we joined the tar road to Butterworth.
The mist disappeared for a few kilometers, but set in again - in such a way that some of the alpha males missed the turn-off . . .
And then some pictures with the heads in the maps... what route will bring the best fun??
Brunch at the Waffle Hut, where the Kwa-Zulu Weavers factory is situated.
During dinner at The Haven

Re: A Slip & Slide Start - Transkei Trip Report
Looks as if it was another perfect adventure for the GS group of motorcyclists, looking for independence whilst still benefiting from the support and friendship of a small group of riders. Meandering and muddling your way through the vast natural landscapes our country has to offer.
It sure brings out the effect that every trip brings new adventures and new companionships
Great pic’s

Re: A Slip & Slide Start - Transkei Trip Report
Stunning guys! You must market this trip better next time - I thought you were going on a rustige trip to the sea with the bikes, didn't realise it would include Tiffendel and Lundean's Nek, etc! Now I feel robbed...
Great pics!

NOW YOU ARE TALKING !!!!!
I tell you, this bilkelessness SUCKS man !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dani, you are correct, Naude's Nek is the highest pass in South Africa, but Tlaeng Pass in Lesotho (S28 48.551 E28 43.714) is the higest in Southern Africa. I have read many reports on Lundean's Neck and many say that it is the most beautiful pass in the whole country.
Kawasefi did both those passes in the pouring rain last year. It is SERIOUSLY on my to do list.
Thanks Bruno for a great report and some awesome pictures......

Absolutely brilliant pics of our beautiful country!!
Does not matter what bike you ride, the trip is worth it! Our country is stunning, all over the place!
Jamie, there is a job for you at the British Embassy, your translation is hilarious. Thanks for the chuckle.
My favourite translation is: oomblik or uncle tin.

Re: A Slip & Slide Start - Transkei Trip Report
To bring this thread back on track…
A picture summary of the places we stayed:
Day 1 – Sani Lodge
Day 2 and 3 – White Clay Resort in Coffee Bay
Day 4 – The Haven
Day 5 and 6 – The Thatches in Kei Mouth
Day 7 – Rubicon in Rhodes
Day 8 – Lord Fraser in Wepener
Each has its own beauty.. Even the caravan accommodation had the most beautiful view over the ocean… and was it a challenge to get to and from the resort??
But that's another story..
