It is important that you let me know ASAP if you will be joining the trip as I need to confirm numbers to secure accommodation.

This is the provisional plan for the Transkei trip 25th April - 3rd May i.e. 3 work days to get a 9 day trip.
Day 1: Shell Atterbury to Sani Backpackers Himeville.
Day 2: Himeville to Coffee Bay.
Day 3: Is a day off for exploring nearby places like Hole in the Wall etc.
Day 4: Coffee Bay to The Haven Hotel.
Day 5: The Haven to Kei Mouth
Day 6: Is a day off for exploring the local area and brushing up on thick sand riding.
Day 7: Kei Mouth to Rhodes.
Day 8: Rhodes to Ficksburg.
Day 9: Ficksburg to home.

Please do nothing at this stage as all is still provisional but PLEASE check the routes and various resorts and send me any feedback or concerns that you may have.

Here comes the first change of plan, Ficksburg is fully booked so we will have a shorter day and stay at the Lord Fraser in Wepener those who have not seen this place will be impressed Im sure.

is anybody in the clear what kind of expense the accomodation is going to be?

this is going to be riding pleasure, first the sani trip, wash and clean the beemer and then off to the transkei for the first time!

Day 1: 25th April Shell Atterbury to Sani Backpackers Himeville.

Day 5:29thApril The Haven to Kei Mouth (note: there is an alternate route shown if the road into Kei is too bad) Accommodation at The Thatchers

Day 6:30th April Is a day off for exploring the local area and brushing up on thick sand riding.

Day 7:1st May Kei Mouth to Rhodes. This will be a tough day which includes Naudes neck pass but more on that closer to the time. Don’t let this put you off as we could even look at an alternate route to Rhodes depending on rider ability.
Accommodation is already a problem as they are all getting full and Rhodes is not the kind of place to arrive with no accommodation. It's remote and cold.
The Rhodes Hotel R425pppn dinner bed and breakfast which is expensive. I'm not sure if there is camping available.
We have now secured what could be the last accomadtion in Rhodes on tha long weekend so its important to do your bookings ASAP.

I'd love to ride this one, but my mother has her 80th birthday right in the middle of the trip and I'm her only child...

...I wonder if she'd like to ride pillion???

i am not keen to camp or tent on the trip! so who is willing to share room with me to make reservations for the two?????

Shangali dont worry to much about a sharing partner just mention you are single secure a bed and we can fix everyone up when we get there, most of the places are communual type accomadation

Hi All

In place of coffee bay we are now staying at white clay and they are insisting on a group deposit, which we will pay, so please don't try and make a booking with them. Everywhere else seems to be falling into place, but if anyone has any problems or further information, please share it with the group.
