Club Nights, where, what, etc....
Hi,
Is there somewhere that one can see when club nights are, a time and dates ??
It might be an idea to have a map with directions for non club members with the dates and times etc...

Thanks Madnohb..
There is also a link to the Club's Website on the HOME page of this Forum.
From the Website's homepage you can go to CLUB NEWS - every month the date is updated there.
The website is the official home of BMW Motorcycle Club Pretoria, with this forum the informal interactive site.
(We are working on a new website where the forum might be an integrated part of the website.)
oh btw.. Bavarian Motorcycles is in Vermeulen Street

Good meeting (AGM)
No unnecessary moaning about R10 overspent here and R20 undercover there. The committee did an excellent job in preparing for the meeting and I think that showed as the proceedings went quick and efficient. All tabled, were approved including the proposed logo/name change. We are now officially known as:
BMW Motorcycle Club Pretoria, South Africa.
Nominations for new Committee Members were unopposed accepted.
Congrats to current Committee Members on their re-election as well as to the new Committee Members:
Corlia, Johan and Etienne
We were finished just after 20:00 having starting at 18:40, to enjoy some very nice snacks…….thank you to the organisers.
see, I was paying attention
In a nut shell – one of the better AGM’s I have ever attended

Yes, while you can still get your hands on the limited edition, soon-to-be collectors item!
I have to agree, it was a pretty painless meeting. Too bad there wasn't time for a lucky draw

Club Nights and New Members
I have been to 3 club nights now and is very disapionted with it. I am not a member yet, but went to the club nights to see how it is, and to see if it is worth joining the club.
I seems that if you are not part of any of the existing members, that knows one another, then you are left all by yourself.
In my opinion the club must get somebody to look after new members and make them feel at home.

Re: Club Nights, where, what, etc....
Iceman,
I had the same feeling, the first time I attended my first club night. I did not know a soul, NOT ONE SINGLE ONE!!!! This was in January 2008.
I went on the Club ride the Sunday, and immediatly made six friends. The next club night I knew six people. I went on the February club ride, and met some more people, and so on and so on...... you catch my drift.
Join on one of the Sunday rides, and you will meet LOADS of new people....

Re: Club Nights, where, what, etc....
Dear Iceman,
I can not disagree with you, but....
I'm brazilian and arrived in ZA in sep 2008! I do not speak english very well and I DO love motorcicle!!!!
I've been at the club and felt almost the same at a first moment...
After some time you know the people and realise that is a great Club!
We DO need to do our part and try to socialise with!
The best thing is to participate of the rides and mainly the trips. it is the best way to know the people and find out how much fun you can have !!
By the Way, next Club Meeting you have a Voucher for a Captain Morgan with me, agreed???
Bruno

Re: Club Nights, where, what, etc....
Hi Iceman
Sorry about your experience and apologies for that.
I for one shall certainly make a bigger effort in future to look out for new faces.
Like the Shark man said, joining a club ride is a fool proof way of meeting people one on one.
Be assure, this is not a club where "clicks" are present.......not counting the GS crowd ........just joking of course.......I'm from the "other side" and they have accepted me.........or at least they pretend to
open invite to a fellow Centurion……….if you interested, send me a pm and I’ll forward my cell no. to you. We can then ride together to the next club social
-edit- oops, I see you are a GS guy yourself don't worry I'll do the pretending thing

Re: Club Nights, where, what, etc....
If it wasn't for the 2 free beers I got when joining (and a 3rd because Koekels did not have change), I would have made a slow start too!
The fact that one of my co-workers also showed up made me 1 instant friend
But yes, it can be intimidating in the beginning. Just push through that and you won't regret it!!!

Re: Club Nights, where, what, etc....
Iceman
Many thanks for bringing this to our attention.
It is with much regret that your first experience with the Club was a bad one,
however I do see you are on the communications list and trust that you are receiving the regular communications.
Hope to see you at Club Night 8 May and the Club Ride Sunday 10 May - Please join us upstairs in the Clubhouse and introduce yourself.

Correction - the first 3 experiences, but let's not split hairs about this - wasting good drinking time

Re: Club Nights, where, what, etc....
I am a Country member and will attend my first meeting on the 8th May. Will see if it is true.
I will however first join the people for the Friday breakfast to meet some of them, before attending the club night.
This must be a first. Riding from Gordons Bay to Pretoria just to attend the club night.
