Re: West Coast Visit Take 2
Day 6
Sutherland and the stargazing is lovely but cold. When I came back to the guesthouse last night it was 10 degrees according to the bike.
This morning it was not much better. Earlier on I complained that it was 18 degrees when I left Augullas – well this morning was 11 and I only realised it once I was on my way. Took the road back to Matjiesfontein and then to Towsrivier. There I stopped and but something warm on.
From Towsrivier went towards Montagu.
Coming down towards Montagu
After Montagu I turned towards Swellendam
The Scenery was very nice
Had an uneventful trip to Mosselbay and arrived around 14h00
Putting up my office
The view from my tent
Nice bikes

Very nice
Enjoy the Buff !
What a view from your tent ! My best memory of that event !
Also in a very beautiful part of the world.
Have a wonderful Buff ! Ask Dave and Dorothy about the pancake lady when we went many years ago with Brian Canoo.
Look out for Shawn !
Cheers

Re: West Coast Visit Take 2
Day 7 & 8
The Buff …..
At around Mid day on Friday the rest of the club members started arriving and setting up camp
Soon camp was set up and we had a good kuier
A few of us wanted to go and help our neighbour to go and set up her tent
On the other side we had neighbours who came to the camp site with their Harleys for morning and afternoon tea and then went back to their house across the road
Then they would sit on the balcony and watch us
Today we went to a restaurant on the route of the mass ride to have breakfast and watch the mass ride
Thereafter we went up the Outeniqua pass – lovely scenery
Tomorrow we are packing up and staring to come home

Re: West Coast Visit Take 2
Looks like you guys had a wonderful trip.
And GREAT weather !
I read on the Cape BMW club's Forum of one of their members who attended for the first time. He did mention the NOISE or reving bikes ALL night long ! I remember it well.

Re: West Coast Visit Take 2
Day 9, 10 & 11
We packed up Sunday at the Buff and were soon on our way to Port Alfred. The Garden route is beautiful and we stopped so much for photo’s that we got to Port Alfred only around 18h00.
Near Wildernes
A Dassie came to greet us
The railway line and tunnel below
At Natures valley we were contemplating training some water crossing but fortunately we did not have enough time
Hope I got it right – Storms River Bridge
Storms river mouth
While travelling we saw the smoke of a fire in the mountains and at the Storms river mouth the fire fighting helicopter landed to refuel
Van Stadens river bridge
Yesterday morning we had breakfast at Bathurst
Had a guest for breakfast – He invited himself
On the way to Ladybrand where we spent our last night we had lovely scenery
The great Fish river
We rode lovely passes and thought that a certain K 1300 S would do so well
Today I got home just after 13h00. Had a great trip. Thanks to Dave and Dorothy who allowed me to go along on their holiday.
It is Kosmos time in the Free State

Anytime, the area around Port Alfred and the Garden Route is a place where you should go for 3 or 4 days and just ride around there

Re: West Coast Visit Take 2
Thanks Wahl for a wonderful trip.
If I remember Bathurst is where they serve the pizza on a large tile. And the pizza was made across the road but carried across the main road to your table. Wow ,what memories. I need to go on a trip ! ( a LONG trip )
Love the new Avatar !
Looked like an awesome trip ! Such a beautiful part of the world !
Glad everyone back home safe.
