Re: East Coast to West Coast Train Trip - September 2010
What happened to the detailed trip planning documents that the trip planning committe members always compiled - at least it gave prospective members an overview of what to expect - wets the appetite so to speak - or has there been a decision about discontuing the use of it???????????

Re: East Coast to West Coast Train Trip - September 2010
I see no problem with the basic tour information posted by Deon i.e.: Travel arrangements and daily schedule, basic cost for train, etc.
Budget of R1000.00 per day for 2 x persons should be ample, such to cover reasonable accommodation, food, drinks and fuel.
Sept 09 Cape Town train tour was a great success,. Detail planning and schedule for each day was finalized by the tour group i.e.: stop overs, places to visit, departure times, etc.
Deon this year I will bring with a "big broom" for sweeping

Re: East Coast to West Coast Train Trip - September 2010
Hello Everyone ,
By the time the World Cup is over we will have 10 weeks left before we get on the Train again. This is a quick update of where we stand right now . We have 10 confirmed partcipants , riding 7 bikes . This means we can take another 15 bikes before everything is full up. Over the next weeks I will be posting information on our overnight stops so that everyone can find a place to stay in good time . Please keep an eye on the forum but I will start e-mailing the confirmed participants individually. Shosholoza has given me the following pricing for the Tourist class trains for September 2010.
From JHB to PE one way - R350,00 per person
From Cape Town to JHB one way - R470,00 per person
This is not the discounted group price - as soon as we are 10 or more we will receive a significant discount - I will be asking everyone for their train fares by the 3 rd week of July but we will have more clarity on the discounted price by then .
More info to follow!
Regards,
Deon
