I am planning a trip to Namibia around middle 2010.

Duration will be around 3 weeks.

Will ride the R1200GSA.

Will carry a pillion.

Will alternate B&B's with camping.

I know there are lots of people that did a tour through Namibia. I need information on roads, condition of roads, places to stay, etc.

I do not want to go to the Wild Dogs forum for info since I am not into extreme offroading. (I am a old fragile sissy) I will travel decent dirt roads. (NO SAND) Wink

It is still a long way in the future, but I need to start my planning.

Me and my better half did the trip in December 2008. It was for 3 weeks and we did also camp and B&B as you are planning. I reckoned its the best way to do it. We had the time of our lives and will recommend it as one of the 10 must do's in a lifetime. The total trip from and back to Pretoria was 5630 Km excluding the Etosha pans (no bikes allowed). We can give you a lot of tips for the trip etc.............

Seems like a nice idee - have been toying with the idee to go through Botswana - Vic Falls (On the Botswana side) - then meander west towards Rundu and Ruacana - and come down through Namibie to Upington - from there homeward bound. Obviously it will have to be a tar only route - travelling by LT.

Have friends in Otavi - just south of Tshumeb - who i want to visit and havent seen in years. Might plan route for middle 2010 - best to do this in the winter - as to not be bothered by rain.
