R 1150 Rt Fuel leak Empty R 1150 Rt Fuel leak

Post by daans 21st January 2009, 11:22

My bike and my project a 1993 Opel Monza Gsi shares the same garage and I have been battling since Christmas to find a fuel leak that made my garage a fire hazard. By this past weekend I have replace every piece of rubber on the Opel's fuel tank etc. Then to my greatest dismay Sunday after returning from Mookgopong (Naboomspruit) I heard a hissing noise coming from the bottom of the bike and saw something dripping of the bike. Yes you are right petrol by the bucket full and nogal right onto the hot exhaust. Now i have had this bike for 3 years and never even thought of stripping the fairing, but believe me this was the quickest way to learn. Problem emanates from what I believe is a non return valve in the lower of the 2 pipes coming from the tank. Petrol just gushes out. once unplugged no leak. Can anyone over advice on how to solve or should I trailer to Bavarian.

why not try the UK BMW club forum - technical section....may find the answer...I too have a 2003 RT but so far no leaks.

Trailer it to Bavaria - certain things one would rather leave to the technical blokes.
