West Coast Visit - Page 2 Empty Re: West Coast Visit

Post by Wahl 17th January 2009, 21:21

I am back home after my wife arrived in Uppington at midnight last night. We loaded the bike this morning and left Uppington around 11h00. Thanks to everyone who phoned and offered to help. Thanks for Lauren also who came and fetched me.

Two points - Why should you not cover long distances after a service what is the reason for serviceing then??

By the way I cover around 90km a day so after the service till my trip did 300 km.

Point two - My new found riding buddy - He had his bike repaired, topped up a pint of oil and carried on yesteday, 100 km out of Uppington he had the same problem, Oil started to leak from the oil tank. Fortunately he was able to turm back and made it back to Uppington. The dealership then decided to drain all the oil from the bike and start all over. 5 litres later all the oil was out the bike - Apparently should have max 2.5 and the 5 litres was after he had the big mishapp next to the road and only topped up with a pint.

Anyway this is the sad end to my trip report.

Welcome back - 5litre when it should be 2.5? Think your riding buddy should take it up with the dealership and BMW.

Maybe they thought they had drained his oil during the service and then put in the required 2.5 litres.
