Re: SANI over EASTER
Do any of you know the road quality from the N2 to Coffee bay in Transkei. I will be traveling it with fully laden GS with road tires. Will i encounter any heavy sand?

Re: SANI over EASTER
I will be on a 2 week solo trip starting in Pretoria, Cape town and then following the coast up to KZN after stopping over for KKNK. I will be leaving Coffee bay in Transkei on the morning that you leave Pretoria and will be camping at the Spashyfenn music festival in Underburg for the weekend.
I would like to join the GS trip for the ride up Sani on your second Saturday.
Drive safe and enjoy

Re: SANI over EASTER
Hi Perske,
No problem, we will be leaving from Nottingham Road Hotel that morning, you can either meet us in NR or at Himeville.
I would recommend NR, because the dirt road from NR to Himeville has been mentioned a few times as THE best dirt road in SA!!!
PM me your cell no, and I will keep you in the loop.

Re: SANI over EASTER
Right,
Here are the final arrangements for the SANI Pass trippie.
1. We will leave from Atterbury Shell at 06:00 on Friday 10 April 2009. Please note: we will LEAVE at 06:00, do not arrive at 06:00!!! You and your bike must be filled up and ready to rock at 06:00. The first day is 630km including Bezuidenhoudt’s Pass, so we need to haul ass!!!
2. You do not need to pack everything, including the kitchen sink. We will be staying in B&B’s so no need for a tent/sleeping bag/hammock/braai rooster/gas stove/spare fuel and all that jazz.
3. Remember to carry at least basic tools with you on your bike. Dani, you must please carry an extra front and rear tube for your bike, and patch & solution. I have tyre levers and a pomp. The rest, you must carry plugs and CO2 bombs.
4. The back-up vehicle will leave with us at 06:00. Brian Chapman and his son will be in the Toyota Fortuner with Colin’s trailer hooked. The back-up vehicle is not there to carry luggage, only people. So make sure you can carry all your crap on your bike. Brian will load some luggage for the trip down Bezuidenhoudt’s Pass if needed.
5. Remember bring along:
i. Passport
ii. Shangali / Bruno, I don’t know if you need visas, but I am sure you will be able to get at the border
iii. Your bike's Registration Papers, plus proof of insurance. They might just ask, but most probably wont.
iv. Camera, it is very pretty there
v. Rain suit, you never know.
vi. Warm clothes, it can snow in Lesotho in December.
vii. Your sparkling personality
6. Please PM me your e-mail address so that I can e-mail you the GPS tracks/route.
If you need to know anything more, please call me, or have a chat at the Club Night tomorrow night.
Cheers

Geen kommentaar - soos jy tereg se - dit klink of dit gaan wild gaan daar tussen die berge. Gelukkig is ons roadies meer reserved hieroor.

Re: SANI over EASTER
Hi guys,
I haven't read your planned route, but please just don't go in at Monantsa pass. You can go out there no worries. But the problem I experienced recently there is coming in at Monantsa there is a SA border post but not a Lesotho border post, so you get the SA stamp, then when I wanted to exit at Caledenspoort, they wanted to arrest me for being illigally in the country. They know there is no Leostho border post, but use this as an extortian tactic.
Enjoy it, and remember no Lesotho trip is complete without a good burnout in a pub!
