OK - so in March it's touring time!! Laughing

Myself and Dorothy have planned an 11 day trip leaving the Saturday, 14 March and returning Tuesday, 24 March 2009.

The provisional route is as follows:
Day 1 - Upington (806km)
Day 2 - Garies or Port Nolloth (depending on whether anyone wants to go with and get their Alexander Bay extreme point)(490km)
Day 3/4 - Britannia Bay(585km)
Day 5 - Pringle Bay(369km)
Day 6/7/8 - Mossel Bay(399km) (Anyone wanting their Agulhas extreme point can get this by doing an extra 80km on this day)
Day 9 - Port Alfred(559km)
Day 10 - Hobhouse(610km)
Day 11 - Pretoria (547km)

The distance each day is not necessarily the shortest distance to the overnight stop - ie it's the long way round Laughing Laughing Cool

There will also be rides in the area during the days spent at Britannia Bay and Mossel bay.

Total trip (excluding day rides at BB and MB is 4 482km. Anyone wishing to join us for the trip or part thereof is welcome.

This is not a club ride and thus we will not have a backup vehicle with us.

Seems like an excellent route. Will also be travelling down to the Buff but not actually attending it, so we will be seeing you down there probably on the Friday only as we have to be back in PE on Saturday. Whereafter we will be meet up with Andre in Cradock on the way back on Sunday.

One learns quickly hey Cool Although with the GS it should not be a problem. Would've loved to go with but I can't take that much leave. Rather planning a more direct route to the Buff Very Happy

Dave, do you know of anybody going to the buff with an empty space on a trailer. I have to take a car and boat down to Mosselbay. The car and boat stay there and i do not want to take a plane back. Will rather tour up the coast and join up with the Sani or Lesotho bunch.

Unfortunately not - try posting on the bike forums or ask Bavarian who they use for bike transport.

I know that there is someone who ferries bikes by trailer between Jhb and Cape Town.

If Bavarian does not know speak to Wayne at Atlantic Motorrad at the Cape Town Waterfront.

See you all at the Buff. Only arriving Friday but hopefully there will be some space "reserved" by the early birds. Safe riding bounce
