Wakkerstroom and Memel - 2008/9

Hello Friends

Who's joining us for a 3 x day trip to Wakkerstroom and Memel from 31st December 08? This year we want to exit 2008 and enter 2009 with friendly folks from interesting towns making new friends and and join them for partying.

31st Dec - Leaving from Middelburg / Witbank at 09h00 through the Mpumalanga forests and hills to Carolina, Amsterdam, Piet Retief, Dirkiesdorp to Wakkerstroom (excellent roads and nature)
1st Jan. - Wakkerstroom, Dirkiesdorp, Piet Rertief, Paul Pietersburg, Vryheid, Danhauser, Newcastle to Memel (magnificent roads and scenery)
2nd Jan. - Memel, Vrede, Volksrust, Perdekop, Morgenzon, Bethal to Middelburg

We have purchased K1200LT and in the process of importing it, this new scoot will not be in time for the trip. We will be on our trusted Valkyrie 1500cc 6 xcyl.

Try the Mahem Guesthouse in Memel - we stayed there earlier this year en route to KZN. Excellent venue, food. On the way back stop off at the "Ouhout" restuarant in Vrede. We just stopped off there on our way back from Fouriesburg and Katse.

Wakkerstroom accommodation various options i.e: Wakkerstroom Hotel (ideal place to stay), Toad Hall B+B, and numerious B+B in the area to chose from. The plan is to reach Wakkerstroom and Memel by not later then 4-5pm, allowing us time to relax and enjoy the sun set (sun-downerssssssss) after a day of interesting country driving. The routes on 1st day from Carolina to Wakkerstroom and 2nd day from Wakkerstroom to Memel are great country driving. With regular stops at all the small towns / places.

Agree with LeRoy - Mahem B+B in Memel is great place to stay at. (LeRoy - my LT will only be in South Africa by Febr/March 09 - comon show me that LT is capable of these routes)

It's time to start a New Year on a different note and what better then biking and meeting great new friends
