Film shoot in Lesotho - update
On behalf of Louie Greeff:
"I need BMW riders to join us for the shoot.
Those who do join us will get a signed copy each of the Motorcycle Guide book as it will have photographic content relating to the shoot. Saturday will be prize giving night for the winning team.
Things to cover from a rider’s perspective:
Concept:
Brief overview of the trip and the purpose; Getting dual rode riders to simulate a reality TV show and to film a trailer and photograph for book content
Anticipated event dates; 10, 11 and 12th October
No of riders planned for; 12 – 16 Maybe 18 if the interest is good
No. of riders required; Maximum - if possible 12 minimum
Departure and return times; 6am on Friday and return Sunday
Difficulty and level of skill required; Easy to difficult, but nothing that cannot be controlled
Type of terrain to expect; Terrain is hectic in places in the area we will be going to in Lesotho.
Speed / endurance commentary (Health and Fitness level required); Legal speed limit to get there and back, slow in Lesotho
Legal / Indemnity / own risk etc.; Own risk – indemnity form to be signed
Cautionary / dangers to expect and mitigation factors; No dangers except if someone decides to go over a cliff??
Guidance and assistance provided; Plenty guidance and assistance
Emergency planning and medical / evacuation capability / personnel / availability;
The production crew come from Clocolan on the Lesotho border and they have been riding Lesotho for years.
The producer also speaks fluent Sotho and there are clinics there run by foreign NGO’s and World Vision.
First aid equipment and trained personnel on the trip; Bare necessities and FA will be given by me with my military medical background
Visas / Permits / Passports (validity); Valid passport only
Cash to carry on hand; Anything from R2000, but mainly for fuel and snacks/drinks etc if riders don’t have fuel cards.
Backup vehicles and personnel; One, but maybe two for camping gear and silent generator.
Communications capability / method with all parties; Not needed as the group will be close to each other at all times
Tracking / leading / following / marshalling of riders; Road master – me, tail end – Johann Claassen (JC)
Brief note on the “Behind the scenes planning” - (lighting, power, filming, production crew, accommodation, permits, sponsors, trip, support crew etc.); Chedza Media is the production team with a support crew. Maybe sponsored prizes. Accommodation is tented. We will be taking 5 four man tents if friends want to stay together. It would be great if riders bring their own sleeping bags/tents/blow-up mattresses etc.
Costs – what’s included and what’s not included; All meals whether on the road or at camping areas (local landowners), drinking water, pure fruit juice mix (for energy)
Bikes:
Costs: To be advised per person covering food and drinks kitty for 3 days once I know how many riders will be coming along
Re-fuelling planning / considerations – longest stretch expected; Ample fuel and fuel will be taken
Insurance requirements: Please make sure you are covered
License requirements: Valid license
Gear:
Cell phones (network availability); Get roaming and bring a charger as there will be a generator and adapters.
Casual wear; 2 x warm shirts, takkies, socks, warm track suit, jersey and/or and warm jacket besides what you’ll be wearing on Friday which should be warm riding gear,.
Nigh time wear; Jeans/jacket warm wear
Sleep wear; Warm wear as it gets cold
Sleeping bags / stretchers / mats; Please bring SB cotton inner liner and mat or blow-up mattress/pillow
Medical aid kit; A good idea to bring if available – otherwise not necessary
Tools required / available; Available
Tent; Own or sharing (as the 5 above)
Your extra food preference; No caviar and oysters, so bring whatever you fancy if that is what you want to take along. Biltong is a good snack and so are various nuts.
Eating tools; Stainless steel plate, S/S mug and knife, forking spoon.
Space available in the vehicles; Two so far, NB: Soft bag or duffle/tog bag only – no hard cases.
Accommodation etc.:
Overnight stay.
Accommodation provided (maximum personnel / avail. (including helpers)); Tented as we will be staying at villages. JC is the camp organiser as well.
Ablution / refresh facilities available; Spade/toilet paper provided… stream for washing. Bucket and shower provided with minimal water for everyone.
Meals considered – bought / provided / self catering; We all chip in
Cooking tools (braais / skottles / etc.); Provided
Booze; Beer and wine provided
Best regards,
