C1 Riders Club - Dont laugh! Empty C1 Riders Club - Dont laugh!

Original posting by Martyn

Hello everyone, Love it or Hate it, the C1, in today’s ever rising fuel and food hikes ,now more than ever, has come into its own as a viable and safe form of transport. When launched, she was years ahead of her time. Now, her time has come.

Yes I'm a C1 Evangelist and I love my Scooter; 2 wheel car; bike with a roof. Call her what you want. Now, getting to the point, eventually.

The C1 in Europe has a huge folowing, evident by the amount of information available via the Internet. There are large Clubs and Forums solely dedicated to the pursuit of all things C1 related. I would like to start such a C1 Club here in South Africa and extol the virtues to all and sundry about this 2 wheeled triumph of Design.

My ideas are noble and I am sure they blind me to many possible obstacles in forming such a club, however that is why I am posting this message here. It's a start, let's talk about it and flesh it out and see where this idea could go.

Wouldn't it be the Wackiest thing to one day see a convoy of C1 scooters making their way to a National Rally? I think we'd have to rename the Term 'Breakfast Run' to 'Picnic Run' for the C1's benefit though.

Thank you to your Motorcycle Club for giving me this platform to raise an idea. I look forward to hearing your comments.

Safe Journeys

Martyn

C1 Rider's Club - DON'T LAUGH!!

I don't think he's pulling an April Fool on you, Leroy!

I happen to be a great fan of the C1 too...even if it is just a little underpowered. I had great fun with a bumble-bee C1-200 over an Easter weekend years ago. It is still the ONLY bike I would allow my teenage children to ride.

At the Swaziland BMW Bikers Rally in 2001, a dealer from KZN rode a C1 all the way to Maseru on half the fuel other bikes used. If I had a little surplus cash, I'd have one myself to commute to work. The big top-box takes a laptop in its case, a Drymac, bread, 2l milk and a six-pack of Heineken - I've tried it myself.

Great bike, the C1 - I'd love to slot a 650 motor in that frame, just for a bit more power... Rolling Eyes

No - realised it was serious - just tried to work in a bit of humor here. Personally speaking i reckon the C1 is the safest bike there is. Would however rather commute with the LT can pack as much and more than the C1. Seems like the migration to the new forum is up and running and picking up speed - should one take the activities and postings as a yard stick here. Regards and safe riding. LeRoy

The C1 would probably sell very well at the moment with fuel prices on the up and up....if it were still made!

I am amazed at how they keep their value - I still see them changing hands for 70% of their new price. When last did you check the resale value of your bike against what you still owe on it...? You may be unpleasantly surprised...! Shocked
