As a result of KK's suggestion about girls and gaining credibility as an offroader, a certain Honda was very carefully washed so as to retain clear evidence of muddy activities! I just did a quick "hose hard and shovel mud off with your hands" job.

Re: Kosmos Run - GS
Oh dear oh dear.. seems I made a wise decision...
The 170kms to Secunda included roads that were perfect for me and my GS...
Thanks Etienne!
With energy levels very low after a week of too many socials and not enough sleep
(and a new puppy in the house), we decided to go straight home after lunch...
so we missed Bruno's alien sucking mud - and the cops - (realised now my license was at home)
We passed Que Sera just before 3 but there was no one for coffee?
Got home at 3 and slept like a baby.
(Apologies, no pictures from me this time.)
Looking forward to the next Club Ride!

There’s nothing like overcoming an obstacle that at first glance looks impossible! And you get the same thing at home as well…When you think getting the bike clean is impossible, but eventually you do get it clean!
Thanks Ettienne, this was a great ride! Pity Corlia wasn’t there. She had training for situations exactly like this at Rhino Park!
Great ride! Great group! Great club!

I promise to solve this problem for the next time.

Don't worry Jens, all part of good "clean" fun! I've also got a nice set of Battlewings in my garage, only done 500km before I put a set of knobblies on. Any offers from anybody??

Re: Kosmos Run - GS
The day started off to be a clear day, yet with a slight chill bite in the air. I made my way to Atterbury Shell, where I waited for our members to arrive. Also loaded up my red fuel container with enough fuel to ensure I arrive to Sacunda.
A large crowd for both the off-road and the black stuff had gathered, socializing before the exciting rides planned for us by our ride leads.
The start of the off-road ride, where the tar ends after railway bridge when one follows Garsfontein to the distant east. Here some riders had already commented on the coolness of the ride and the strong easternly we had to encounter so far.
Our next stop at the entrance to a farm. Here plenty of smiles to be seen by all in the group. Plenty water puddles already crossed over.
On the road next a dam between two large power stations. Bruno took photo of the second power stations. Here I refilled my bike with the extra fuel I carried.
Finally we arrived at Sacunda Dros
Good fiendly chit chat as we waited for our meals
At the very beginning to the Alien Mud, which we been awaiting for since leaving Dros. Here Etienne instructed us to wait here for 5 minutes to give him a head start so he can take up a camera position. Bruno would then lead the way to the Alien Mud.
Before departing to the Alien Mud, I noted the patch we crossed to park in preparation of tackling the Alien Mud. Plenty water for sure. "What are we in for?", went through my mind.
Well as you seen there are plenty photos of the Alien Mud section. Upon arriving at the first stream crossing where Etienne was eagerly waiting for us. He deliberately parked his bike on the near side so not to show us the best line to take. Luckily for me, Bruno and Jens had speedily made their way to the entertainment area to give the rest an idea of how thick the mud really is and best possible place to cross over. Eventually my turn came, stood up and slowly moved forward. Upon entering the water, I ended up quickly down on my seat as the bike started slipping below me. I managed to keep the bike upright and made it onto harder ground which turned out to be a small island of sorts. Ahead thick mud lay ahead with immediate up climb of a long slope afterwards, and water before the mud. This time Etienne decided to show us the best line to take. By this time I was wondering where these "maniacs" were leading us through and what was still to come. Eventually again it was my turn to ride through, this time I remained seated believing I had a better chance to use my legs to prop me up as needed when I go through the mud. I picked my line, though the mud, up the slope and between all the parked bikes dotted around water holes on the slope. I slowly moved forward, ensuring not to use too much throttle to prevent as best as possible no wheel spin. I managed to ride though and up onto the slope in a single go. As I was making my way passed the other bikes, so to make space for OliveOil and Mario to follow me, I decided to continue up the slope seeing that I was already in motion.
Slowly up the slope I went, entered the next very muddy patch, this time mud with a nice slope. The ground looked hard and stable with leaves and the like sprinkled over the surface. This was not the case, mud on the bend to the right, up the slope to a bend to the left, then another little slope to hard ground at the top. I slowly made my way, just keeping the bike moving with as little torque as possible to prevent wheel spin. I rode a little futher to cross another muddy pool to set myself up to take photos of the group when they eventually made it to the top.
Etienne decides speed is the way to do it
Jens prefers bashing mealies than going through more mud, and from the smile he enjoyed it too
Bruno speedily riding through
Sias exiting the mud pool
OliveOil slowly and steady rides through
Jaco splashing through
Mario sending the mud to the moon
We continued along the farm road between the fields, encountering more large water pools, though these were very easy to ride through. We took a little break on the district road, having a good laugh at the Alien Mud section.
Proud owner OliveOil showing off her very clean bike. Well done on your achievement of surviving the Alien Mud.
My lightly mud sprinkled bike after the Alien Mud section.
Well we were almost home when we got pulled over by the Delmas traffic cops. After such a good ride, where I did not purchase a bunch of farms to add to my already large farm collection, my luck ran out. I did not have my license with me so collected a R500 fine to end the day. So my day ended after 11:50 hours very tired, yet satisfied on a very enjoyable ride.
Thanx Etienne for a wonderful day.
