What about closer ties with Tshwane Metro "Biker" Police?
Hi all,
A few weekends ago I was travelling from Fountains on the highway towards Midrand minding my own business when I was overtaken by the Tshwane Metro Police Biker brigade (approx 12 bikes). I fell in behind them as they opened up the road quite nicely for me (now I know what it feels like to be escorted in one of those flashy black cars!). The guy at the back signalled for me to close in and to ride with them. Very decent of him indeed.
Quite often we also bump into the guys and galls when they bring in their bikes to Bavariaan for a service, but that seems to be the extent of our relationship. Also remembered their professional assistance when we attended our dear friend Jamie's funeral.
I was just wondering - can we not get more interaction going with these guys/galls? Surely they are not the one's hiding behind bushes with their lazer guns.
I'm sure that we can learn a lot from these guys. They spend thousands of km's on their bikes, and possibly have more of a passion for "Shared Riding" than most of the club members.
What is your opinion?

I think it is a good idea - what about inviting them to a club evening for a talk on traffic safety etc?

Ja, I like it! Let them share their stories from their point of view. Maybe Roger can organise?

Think this is one for the committee or rides committee to pick up on.

Tend to agree - was suggested a few years ago. And if i recall correct we did it once before - so maybe we can give them a standing invite to the noggins.

Re: What about closer ties with Tshwane Metro "Biker" Police?
I agree
This is a great idea
I chatted to a Metro Cop a while ago at Bavaria about the Orange lenses we all put on our GSs. He was very approachable and had a good sense of humour. We often just see these guys when they are dishing out fines.
I'm sure they would also like to feel part of GREAT biking club like ours.
Let's do it !

Re: What about closer ties with Tshwane Metro "Biker" Police?
It would be very nice not to have to say:
"Good afternoon, officer - have I done something wrong?"
and rather say:
"Hi Frikkie - ons het jou Vrydag by die 'Social' gemis!
Het jy 'overtime' gewerk?"
