What bike model and what type of protectors do you want to fit??

There is normally no guarantee issues regarding any protectors, except if it influences the cooling.

I know the Hepco and Becker ones are quite good. But Pauli at GPS4Africa will give you good advice as he rides a 1200GS as well and knows all the odds and inns

Engine Protectors what should I get? Empty Re: Engine Protectors what should I get?

I had the SW Motech crashbars fitted (lower & upper) and did what Humpty Dumpty did Smile Even though the crash bars took the impact, they nicked the cylinder head on the one side ever so slightly. But speaking with some people, I understand that it could have happened with the Hepco Becker's too. Taking my bike in for repairs, the guys at Bavarian fitted the Hepco Becker crash bars, but I cannot comment on their effectiveness, because I haven't gone humpty again!

All in all, I seriously recommend fitting either brand, because they DO help a lot - if only to keep the cylinder head on and the oil inside.

You also get "engine protectors" which are flat metal plates that screw on over the cylinder heads, but mostly prevents cosmetic damage to the soft-ish magnesium heads, and will not really protect the protruding cylinder in a "crash"...

Thanx for the advice. I had the Hepco Becker's fitted at Bavarian East, and it seems like it would serve as some protection.
