On behalf of Bruce from Zambia:

"I came across your site on the internet and was wondering if you could give me a bit of friendly advice.
By the way I live in Zambia and am looking at acquiring a fairly old bike here in Zambia. I am 50 years old and have never ridden in my life and would like to start. Maybe it is a mid life crises type of thing. My late dad had a 1958 R60 and never had an ounce of trouble, hence the attraction.
From what I can establish the bike is a 1980 model R100US. It has twin spark plugs on each cylinder two panniers and looks to be in fairly good condition. Mileage is about 45 000 (not sure if km or miles) and has a separate clock. Another feature is that it is black with has gold pin stripes (cannot say I like them) and 1000cc in gold on some cover on the left side. It idles very smooth and is in daily use. No oil leeks, scratches or anything obviously wrong with the bike. The tires are worn out.
Could you maybe give me an indication as to what I should expect to pay (in USD) for a bike along these lines? Offers are invited and I am at a loss as to what would be reasonable.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Bruce.

Dani, I found a site with someone who owns a 1982 model R100US. Maybe Bruce can make contact and get a feel for the price. It is the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America site. They also have a forum. The link to the site is http://www.bmwmoa.org Very Happy
