You are obviously using your “poepkussing” for this trip. To long for me, have to work for a change. Sad

Have looked and will do it Thursday - will then meet the 3 dams lot at the Giyani stopover later in the afternoon. Will give me 600+ km for the day leaving from Coach House.

Richard H wrote:Actually, taking a photograph at a border post can get you arrested and locked up

When we (Me, Bruno and wife) arrived at Alexander Bay border post they (police) would not allow us to take photos. I asked to speak to the commanding officer, which turned out to be a lady. She refused point blank to allow us to take the photos and pointed out a signboard. So being a negotiator I asked her to personally write a letter stating that we were there which includes Rubber stamp, Names, ID, bike make and model, bike reg number, dates and the reason why we could not take the photos. I told her that it was a reasonable request as we traveled all the way just for the photo and now it was not allowed. She saw it was work coming her way and wanted to argue with me. I stayed very calm and asked that instead of a letter could they not make an exception and just let us take the photo and I promised that the BRIDGE (which seemed to be the security reason for not allowing photos) would not be in the photo AT ALL. She finally agreed and we took the photos with the whole force (about 5 or 6 police men and women) standing there and watched us. At one stage my wife wanted to take a photo that was not to there liking they immediately objected. I was very glad to leave the place and will not return there again (not even if I get paid to do it)

scratch When I was at the same place last year, the CO took the photos for us!
Neutral It would seem that the attitude of the SAPS is deteriorating ... !
Perhaps they transfer SAPS members who have been less than efficient at fighting crime to do border duty at Alex Bay...?

I will raise the subject at the next Committee meeting.... study
