The dirty way to Loskop
Fifteen GS'ers (and 1 pillion) - gathered this just after 6:00 to join Sharkie on his first ride as leader of the pack..
From start to finish - a great job! Well done Sharkie!
The day was clear, the river crossing not too deep, the company perfect - what more can you ask for?
Andre
Deon
Marnus
Yellow brigade
Now this is what I call trust!
Thanks to everyone for a super day!

Well done Sharks, job well done!
The silly cell phone was a bit slow but this is what I got from above! (Must admit I jumped at the last second - Eddie's good, but how good... ?! )

Re: The dirty way to Loskop
Ja ou Sharkie, well done - thanks for taking us on a great ride!
And just to set the record straight - no injuries this time around, so it does not always happen on a GS ride We did however suffer some mechanical issues with Haas' (?) F800GS radiator hose leaking plus oil coming out the rear suspension, and Eddie damaging his rear wheel hugger (I wonder how he managed to do that?!).
And thanks Jamie for taming the sand for us - I did a bit of dancing myself.
And thanks GSLady for not losing it on that rocky uphill
This was a lekker get-you-in-the-mood-for-Sani trip!

Re: The dirty way to Loskop
Thanks guys for a wonderfull trip.
It was a nice group and I had a blast. Thanks again for Marnus doing the sweeping in all the dust.
Lunch at Loskop was GREAT, everyone just wanted to have a nap after the meal. Dana was the only smart guy there and he went for a swim. We had an unevenfull, but nice ride back for the last few beers at the Sambok Bar.
Happy to report that we has no spills, and only a few mechanical problems, a 650GS that kept stalling under 2500rpm, and a 800GS with that water-hose problem and also a leaking rear-shock, and then Eddie with his rear wheel hugger comming loose on the Adv.
But other than that, no problems !!!

Re: The dirty way to Loskop
Thanks for the report as well as all the pics.
Now that looks like an awesome trip. Also nice to hear there were no injuries etc. There does not have to be a spill!
Next time when we don't have a group of friends doing the road trip, we will do the offroad for sure!!!

Re: The dirty way to Loskop
Well done Sharkie! What a great trip! I really enjoyed the tweespoor bit. That really felt like taking the road less travelled… Overall a great day!!!
Thank you Corlia for going along as pillion. Dit kan nie te maklik wees om daardie terrein agterop ‘n GS (Grond-Scooter) aan te pak nie!
Some pictures taken by Corlia and myself:
First contact with gravel for the day. Deflating tyres, switching off ABS and all that….
The unknown laying ahead (always classified by the ride leader as “a level one or two easy ride with one or two patches bordering on level three” – so don’t ask for too much detail anymore):
Some water crossing pictures:
At loskop dam:
The breakfast view:
Washing up before breakfast:
I was too busy concentrating on the road most of the time to spot any wild animals, but Corlia spotted some wild cats at a watering hole at some stage….interesting creatures!
Many thanks again to everyone for a very memorable trip!

What an awesome trip...
What an awesome trip... just didn't want it to end . Thanks Sharky, you can be the head dog again... had loads of fun and Marnus thanks for being the head dogs tail, you kept everyone dangling along nicely. O, ye and before I forget.... have to say many thanks to DakarDrix for saving me, had so much fun (..food/drinks) that I forgot to save some money for petrol home... If it wasn't for him I would have had to push the bike the last 50km, got home with a just a bit of petrol fumes left in the tank.
Dakardrix didn't even know me until yesterday, it just shows you what a great group of people the club consists off.
Pitstop along the way
