Just a brekkie ride to Parys via Fochville - myself and Dot with, wait for it, 3 Harleys!!
Friend of ours who bought a Harley and two of his friends. An interesting experience.

Re: Quiet weekend
Were you in front of the Harleys or behind them?
That will make the greatest difference....

Re: Quiet weekend
Initially we let them ride ahead as my friend had worked out the route. Once through Randfontein we went ahead and waited for them at intersections and turns.
Bikes would just not stay behind them!! Just wanted to run ahead.

Re: Quiet weekend
Harleys = Hardly Driveables. Dave you are never going to live this down. Did you at least get to 4th gear. LeRoy

Was on the R1200S and kept my speed to maximum 180km/h - must say they were a bit far behind by this time. Didn't see the need to gear up to 5th

Re: Quiet weekend
Was in Pilgrims rest on the 14th and witnessed the Harley Rally with all the backup vehicles, my girlfriend asked "Why do they have backup vehicles ?"
I replied for the parts that vibrate off, they drive behind and collect them !!
Are you serious she asked, i said yes, why else would they have them, look there is a bike trailer for the bikes that pack up !!
She believed me and i eventually i told her the next day i was joking...

Re: Quiet weekend
Sounds right to me - so eventually they build a new Harley with the parts that come lose - so that is where new Harleys come from. Always wondered. LeRoy
