8 November 2009 - Groot Marico
RECCE REPORT:
On 8 November the club is going to Swartruggens / Groot Marico for a breakfast run, so we started our recces in order to make sure that everything goes well.
Went on our first ride out to Swartruggens and Groot Marico on Sunday 29 March 2009.
LEG 1
R509 to Swartruggens. No problem here. Found a Wimpy at Koster and a railway station at Swartruggens.
Then tried to take the N4 to Groot Marico - R61 (sixty one Rands) as from 1 March 2009.
We decided to take the alternative route past Borolelo!
Tlokweng has 10 huge speed dumps and Pella has 15 acroos the whole road so only a GS can bypass them.
270km later we arrived at Groot Marico. Found a great little restaurant - Marico memoirs. Enjoyed lunch instead of breakfast.
LEG 2
Back home - Pella has 15 huge speed dumps and Tlokweng has 10 huge speed dumps...
From Swartruggens to Rustenburg on the N4, stopping for Coffee
Then the R24, R560 and R563 back to the N14 and home - 285 km
R509
Marico Memoirs
and
(It looks much better than in the fotos).
I heard that there was a new restaurant there somewhere. Anybody knows where it is? Will visit that on our next recce.

Johan
The restaurant in Swartruggens we tried is Red Chilli Inn, but I heard a 'name/owner' change took place recently. Waypoint is S25 39 01.7 E26 41 55.9. Quite a nice place, also for a sleep-over.
Hope this is of use

Got it! Will definately look into this, then we do not have to cross 25 speed dumps to Groot Marico.
Here is the next road we took. I must say it is much better than the first one. I remembered we took this road to Magaliesburg once with the club breakfast run.
Welcome back to all the travelers, we are looking forward to your postings!
