ESA stopped selecting Empty ESA stopped selecting

Post by tj 15th February 2009, 21:44

Some weeks ago the ESA on my RT stopped selecting between rider/rider-luggage/rider-pillion. The other selection of comfort/normal/sport still worked fine.

Simon at Bavarian had a thorough look at it and decided the unit was bust and ordered a new one. Fortunately for me the bike is still under guarantee as I learnt the unit will cost around R17000! Some two weeks later the new unit arrived and were installed. But even the new unit also did not work and Simon apologised with the remark that he ordered another and I have to be patient.

I, not too ignorant to mechanics knew from plenty past experience that to swop a shockabsorber is simply undoing two bolts, one bottom and the other top, and in this case also a few wires to connect the electronics. This is simple and I had full faith that Simon's guys did the correct thing.

Then came the surprise when Lannie called a week later to say he received new software and my bike will require an upgrade. That is sure to solve the bust shock. Well, I was carefully optimistic and dropped in Saturday morning at the workshop. Ten mins later my key was handed back (my coffee still too warm to swallow) with the report everything is fine and working!

Well I'll be damned. repairing a sick shockabsorber with computer software? This can only be coming from BMW.

This also reminded me of the gyneachologist who turned motor mechanic and built a very profitable business in a short while... He could overhaul an entire engine through its exhaust!

Guys, guys, please?? We're talking here of deeper inner feelings. You cannot mention foreign words like Triumph or Harley. Jis man, we have our pride you know. This is mos noble geselskap! Twisted Evil

Regarding the virus. I'll keep the J&B handy - JantiBiotika. For the RT ofkors, I prefer Klippies met Eish
