Re: GS on to Rooiberg?
Yes, there will be a GS ride.. Andre Henrico is the organiser and rumour has it, he will do the recce ride during the week and (weather/mud permitted) will give the details on Friday night. The route will probably include the dirt roads in the Settlers/Codrington area.
For those not able to attend Friday night's Club Social, detail will also be posted on the website and forum on Saturday.

Tx - can't wait for my first ride with the club!
We did a little trip in that direction a week ago but I didn't realise we were so close to Rooiberg - never been there. Here is the ride report of that trip:

Oh, please be noob friendly. I still sporting a sore left shoulder that is not very fond of deep corrugations at the moment. Just ask Kobus how I suffered.

Re: GS on to Rooiberg?
When we did the Rooiberg ride last year, it was my first ride with the club. I enjoyed it immensley, and made some good friends on the ride. (I joined the club on that Friday night, and did not know a soul)
The ride itself was very nice and easy, we had a few muddy sections, where Pierre's Dakar decided to have a little drink, but nothing major. I would agree that the road is indeed newbie friendly, but rather listen to Andre on Friday night, after he's done a recce. Also I am not sure if we would do the exact same route ???
There were no fuel in Rooiberg, and we filled up in Mabalingwe Game Reserve. I remember my petrol light came on about 10km after we left Rooiberg.

Yep, I remember watching the muddy puddles in the distance, hoping someone will ride my bike through - but.. Pieter kind of ignored me! Thanks Pieter! I made it.. and gained confidence can do no harm!

I get the feeling he likes to ignore those who are stressing before interesting obstacles. You made it this far, just continue...

Re: GS on to Rooiberg?
These were taken on last year's Rooiberg GS ride:
A rather small group of 7 bikes
Not sure what Pieter and Marius were doing here... but it was somewhat slippery here and there . .

Remember nothing ventured nothing gained!!! If you do not get out of your comforrt zone you will never improve.
We will always make sure you do not go into your panic zone....
Unfortunately you learn bike riding mostly from doing rather than watching, unlike rugby and cricket where your most capable people can be found on the stands and couches ......

Re: GS on to Rooiberg?
Don't know if this has been asked but will there be enough patience for extreme newbies . Me and my friends did our first proper dirt road ride on Sunday and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Hey GSJeri, if they (friends to be) don't wait up - which I doubt - I will wait for you! If I'm not behind you already... and my GPS only hangs up 50% of the time, so there is a good chance that we will get somewhere and back home if we lose them. Us noobs have to stand together!!
