But then again
"Slowcoach" for a RT rider with a Gesie on his back feels defematory?
?HuH?
Oops. Hope the Tannie doesn't read this one.

Ja - that is quite obvious - maybe you should upgrade to a K model bike - might pick up speed then. LeRoy

Re: Vanished ratings
The person who dreamt up the names knew that no Biker would like to be a "Paddlefoot" or "Slowcoach". Clever way to encourage activity on the forum, and once you reach "Biker" it is like money or fame, the more you have the more you want. Well done to the "Serious Biker Dudes", looking forward to seeing the first "Longhauler"MadnohB wrote:Was not trying to reach "Biker"........much rather trying to get away from Slowcoach

Yippee. I'm a Biker too now. Took rather long time. But then I don't reply if I don't have anything to say!

Re: Vanished ratings
You can call me what you like on a forum, paddlefoot, slowpoke anything you want. I participate on internet forums like I ride my bike, without my ego getting in the way.
Numbers are for accountants, for the rest of us who cares.
Just my take on the pissing contest that is the post numbers.

Re: Vanished ratings
Well, well……so many people so many opinions……and so it should be
can I chip in, and this is not to boost post count…….
I’m way past the stage in life where taking part in a pissing contest is a goal of mine. My active involvement in the forum was to be a party to getting it of the ground and to try and establish an healthy and vibrant medium where like minded individuals can interact, learn to know each other – becoming forum friends so to speak – and to share ideas and opinions regarding bikes which ultimately is the common denominator here.
We came from an era where 1 post in 3 weeks was regarded as very busy. I noted the effort behind the scenes to get the new forum up and running and deemed it worthy of a supportive participation from it’s members.
Bikers or motorcyclist if you will are normally a fairly close knit group and let’s face it, we are not exactly main stream conformists……..hell I mean we think nothing of going to Dullstroom (via Lydenburg) for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Does a forum like this serves the purpose of bringing like minded folk together?.........I think definitely yes but only if there is active involvement from the members.
We got out of the blocks at 100 miles per hour but in time active involvement steadily declined to where we are almost back to heavy traffic (onlookers) only but very few participants, which is somewhat sad. I know, I know…..all the arguments of better things to do and the likes but the long and the short are, if we (the members) don’t feed the forum, it will die or at best became stagnant like the previous forum.
and btw, forum titles don’t mean a lot to me either. However I did not like that "slowcoach" underneath my name nor am I particular fond of "longhauler"…..a simple “biker” would be fine

Re: Vanished ratings
Hell the easiest way to deal with rat race crap, is to remove the stupid title, or make it user definable (many forums they allow this and some titles are really funny), and don't display the post count on the right of the posts.

Re: Vanished ratings
In the interests of the cause here is one more to add to the pile.
Forums are a lot of work to set up and maintain but my opinion on the matter is simply this, if you have nothing constructive to say, say nothing at all. Too many forums seem to spin into anarchy as opinions (which often are not factual) are bandied about with the express intention of raising the irritation level of fellow forum members.
Usually this is related to some sort of ego where the poster must be right or his\her opinion must be the accepted one. My only interest in forums is too learn something, if I feel that criteria is not being met, I vote with my feet and leave.
Its a very personal thing, like how you ride your bike. Personally I don't mind being called a slowpoke, it's kind of a compliment if you ask me, one that has nothing to do with biking...........

Not at all, you see as per my previous post, it was not an opinion, merely a fact.
What I did learn though is Dave is sharp! See still worth sticking around.
Take care

Admin has noted the request for change.
Whilst looking at Table Mountain it's provoked my thought processes . . .
By sunset you may have a new rating

Re: Vanished ratings
Wow!! Technically the new ratings have classified me as Fuel injected, but alas still normally aspirated.
Admin, there must’ve been a table cloth over Table Mountain: sunset appeared quickly!
A word to the serious forum contributors: a bit of light-hearted banter can’t do any harm? Lighten up a bit!

Ain't this remark about 6 inches too low under the belt?
I stand with my view that this forum is for fun and enjoyment, without getting personal or petty. I like your attitude of FIFO, Morpheus and agree wholeheartedly without being personal.
Can this argument now be stopped or create a new thread...

Re: Vanished ratings
Getting back to Jamies post on the previous page - must admit he did more than his fair share to get the speed up on the forum and keep it going. Excellent. With regards to the new naming conventions - tend to agree with Andre (previous post) the slowcoach and paddlefoot names were excellent as it encouraged you to add your 2c worth, if only to get to the Biker title. Would maybe allow the 5 star rating members the chance to pick their own name as i dont think the Nitrious Enriched title fits very nicely with the LT. Depending if the forum can allow it. Regards.
