Rhino Rally 2008: 24-26 October
Well, 4 club members decided to meet at the Rhino Rally in Harrismith. Bruno, Dorothy and me left from Cuppa Cafe after breakfast on Friday. Willie left earlier and kept us a campsite.
Loaded Adventure - no space for the kitchen sink!!
Intersting number plate
We arrived at the rallysite at about 12:30, set up camp and just chilled. Around 4pm I decided that I needed to visit Van Reenens pass, so myself and Bruno set off for a ride.
On the way back, just before Van Reenen we turned off onto what I presume was the old road. Road is tarred and starting to break up. Fantastic viewpoint that we stopped at off the tar section
On the way back saw a mountain that, with a bit of imagination, looks like a dragon head - with the head resting on the mountain
Coffee and rusks Saturday morning before setting off to Clarens for breakfast
Stopped just inside Golden Gate park
Some riding pictures - was cold all the way to Clarens - 10deg C

Breakfast venue
After breakfast we rode one of the viewpoint loops in Golden Gate
then carried on past the Sterkfontein dam to Bergville
Came up Van Reenens pass and stopped at the smallest church in Africa (was smallest in the world until the Americans discovered they had a smaller one!!)
After lunch in Van Reenen we made our way back to the rally site.
Met Ralph from the club later that afternoon - he and his wife rode down Saturday morning. There were some noticable absentees - hello Leo.
Our campsite
A pink 800ST
All packed and ready to head for home
Thanks to all for a weekend of good riding and good music.
