Heaven on earth.......and how is.........
your "long weekend" so far?
Of course I would never even think to making anyone jealous .........but methinks this is a wonderful way to spend a (self made) long weekend.
a guess?
yip, the one and only MEIRINGSPOORT
somewhere between paradise and heaven
and more......
play time - big time -......Outeniqua pass you beauty
what better place to go to for seafood
than the famous 34 South (had a name change.....degree was dropped, now only 34 South)
and the journey continues
Buffelsbaai
greetings from the Western Cape

Re: Heaven on earth.......and how is.........
Unfortunately, the weather in the Western Cape sometimes (often might be more correct) has no sentiments for the fact that we only have 3 days here……..it’s pouring down and freezing cold. I have been sitting with my riding gear since 06:30 this morning…..but no luck yet so………
very lickely no photos today

Re: Heaven on earth.......and how is.........
I am only half jealous. Was there at least from Saturday till Wednesday (while the weather was better). Did some riding with my old R1100S up Outeniqua pass and through Oudtshoorn up to a bike rally in the mountains near Cango Caves. Returned via Robinson Pass. What a great round trip. Enjoy the rest of your trip and safe riding

Re: Heaven on earth.......and how is.........
Ok less good news.
At 15:00 today the weather cleared sufficient enough to allow a ride…….nobody else wanted to come with.
Headed straight to Outeniqua pass.
First corner…….man this road is fairly slippery when damp.
Second corner……better watch my steps, this is very slippery
Third corner…….lost the bike in a left hander, managed to recover at the very last heart stopping moment before hitting the ground with a low side…….groot skrik
Stopped only to discover I had a rear flat – 2 cm wide cut…..too big to plug.
Called the cavalry for assistance but in the 80min spent on the pass got soaking wet from 5 downpours. Only one vehicle - 1 with a Think Bike sticker on the back - stopped in longrer than an hour to ask if I need assistance .......hazards happily blinking away all the time. Trailer arrived but had to park at a serious angle which disallowed the lazy loader to be lowered to the ground. Managed to rip both bellypans’ rear sides off when loading the bike. A tyre had to be sourced from a third party by the BM dealer in George and I managed to pay the profit of two dealers in the sum of R2000 for a tyre. ......take it or leave it........I needed so I took.
The good news…….they kept the workshop opened after 17:00 to fit my tyre........a real issue on a Friday afternoon the the Western Cape.
Back in business now……just hope the weather is better tomorrow

Re: Heaven on earth.......and how is.........
Gee, that was a close call I can relate to the hassle of getting a tyre in George. Happened to me in 2006. Also had to get the tyre from a 3rd perty but they could not fit it because they did not have the torx tool to remove the brake callipers. So BMW George had to do it at a premium Anyway, glad you are back in business. Forecast looking better for today Stay on two wheels

Re: Heaven on earth.......and how is.........
weather is (was) better today.......
Albertinia this morning
between Riversdale and Ladismith
suitable (great) for high speed testing........we encountered 1 car between the two towns
and the clouds look ominously threatening............again
Ladismith with an i
pretty little town
where we had a late breakfast
and the pebbles are "perskepitte"
Huisrivier pass
and what a little gem this pass is
as the heading stated.......heaven on earth.
today's riding - Garcia pass, Huisrivier pass, Robinson pass, GREAT BIKES, fabulous riding and GOOD COMPANY..........what more can one ask for?
just as a reminder that this is still real world, we got showered close to Hartenbos......
oh and btw, the 800 passed it's two-up test with flying colours ..........this bike impresses me more and more by the day

Great photo's!!! And indeed your heading is very very suitable - it sure looks like heaven on earth!!! I'm sure the R2000 for the tyre was worth the next days' riding!!
